I'm sorry I don't have a picture but wonder if anyone knows what the fruit / nut is that seems to be in season all of a sudden. It's a pod that is green / pink and is twisted in a spiral. You can see the lumps of the fruit / nut inside. When opened, the fruit / nut is white or pinkish curled around a black seed which you take out. A very nice lady selling these by the bag by the side of the road let me try one and it didn't taste of much, rather like a soft nut that left the mouth dryish. I did ask her what they were but she laughed at me ... I get that a lot when I try to speak Thai clap2.gif

If no-one can help then I'll try to get a picture.

I've heard it called "white tamarind", (macaam khao), I thought it was just young tamarind but I'm not sure.

Tastes to me like an unripe mulberry.

Bought some today, my resident farm expert (wife) calls them ma kham tate and says they are from a different tree than the usual brown ma kham.
