Hi all,

I was at the Samut Prakan immigration this morning to have my one year visa O.

Everything was in order when the officer mention that my bank account went below 400000 last week

So they couldn't give me my visa. As the old one finish on 1st March, they ask me to go out of Thailand, come back on a tourist visa, do an extension for 60 days and come back for my visa O without going below 400000 on my bank account.

Well, it is my fault so I assume, I will do a visa run by plane to receive a Tourist visa on my way back.

I have some questions :

Where is it better to go without needing visa,I'm belgian ( I will do it in one day)

I think I will go on a cheap flight with Air Asia, any other idea ?

Is there a laps of time that I have to respect between my departure and my come back ?

The last and very stupid question, can I go in the airport with my boarding pass stay there for a while, don't fly and go to the immigration as a normal tourist ?

Ok Ok I know that is very stupid but have you ever think about doing this ?

You should got to Vientane or Savannakhet Laos and a get a non-immigrant 'O' visa, not a tourist visa. And toward the end of the 90 days permitted, apply for the extension. There are many trip reports, just browse and read.

I know I can do this but I want to be back here in one day and there is no problem for me to have a tourist "on arrival" visa.I can extend it and then my two months over 400000 will be finish so I can have my one year visa O.

"Visas" can only be obtained outside Thailand !

Did you ask them about doing the 60 day extension for your current extension that would give you time to have your money in the bank for 2 months. You could apply for the extension at the end of the 60 days,

I you go out and back for a visa exempt entry you would have to go to immigration in Bangkok immigration to apply for a conversion a non immigrant visa,

It would be best to go out for a single non-o visa,

You have to leave, enter another country and return to get a new entry.

There are no "tourist on Arrival" visas!

The best that can be obtained would be a 30 day visa exempt entry which cannot be used to obtain a one year extension of stay .

Ok anyway, I will go monday on Samut Prakan immigration to clarify the situation with the officer because she didn't tell me that I need a 90 days visa o to do my extension to one year.

You can only have one 60 day extension per entry.

Your best choice it to go out for a single entry non-o visa.

If you just go out and back for a visa exempt entry you could apply for the conversion to a non immigrant visa during the first 15 days of your entry. You would not need to apply for the 60 day extension because you would get a 90 day entry stamp.

Not a good idea for the OP. He needs a non-imm 'O' visa, not a visa exempt entry.

Hope he does seek an Non "O" which will save a lot of hassle !
