Hi all

Submitted settlement visa paperwork on 18th & Mrs got a call from embassy today. Fella asking

Q. How long been together?

A. 3 Years

Q. How long lived together in BBK?

A. 7 Months

Q. How many kids we both have?

A. 2 Each

Q. Do any of her kids want to come UK?

A. Possibly her son when finishes studying

Q. Where are her kids now?

A. Correct

Q. My kids birth dates? (not very fair as i forget every year!) Thank god for mums!

A. Didnt know dates but told ages.

Q. My kids names.

A. Correct

Q. My age?

A. 34

Q. Who takes care our baby now?

A. Her

Q. Date of marriage?

A. Two/Three months ago, she forgot date!!! Ahhhh!!!

Q. What i work as.

A. Correct

Q. Why have we been together three years & only just got married?

A. Because we felt time was right as we just had son etc.

Did ask a few more questions which she answered ok.

All in all i would say she answered ok apart from marriage date (said approx date) & my kids birth dates (told there ages). She said she has had so much to remember & do for the visa the date of marriage has slipped. Asked him to hold the line she will just look lol, Thai women!

Said she felt like a criminal as fella told her to speak the truth etc. She did. Call ended with him saying he may call back tomorrow to ask further questions! Like what?

I submitted so much evidence of relationship i had a full A4 binder with everything tab'd & covering letter references the lot.

So what now? What the usual? Why no result on the phone? VAC website says submitted to embassy. Why say may call back? Stress man! How long will we know in? What happens if she didnt pass the Tel Interview?

Cheers all

:D

P.S. Not nice here in UK peeing it down :o

Hi Connor,

I would suggest that the visa officer is considering issuing your wife's visa, but just wanted to give her the quick once over. It is unlikely that any of the ECOs speak Thai fluently, and the person to whom your wife spoke was in all probability a Thai member of staff. He would not have the authority to make a decision on the case, hence the non-commital, "I'll call you back, if necessary."

This is the first time that I've heard of a visa interview being conducted over the phone and, I must say, it's not very professional. Certainly, if the worst happens and they seek to refuse your wife's application on the basis of a brief telephone chat conducted by someone who is not a qualified ECO, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on come any appeal. It's that, that makes me think your wife will have her visa granted.

Cheers Scouse

I will keep you posted. Hopefully know tomorrow.

She did say the tele conversation was 100% thai speaking. Only problem is the person didnt even give a name. Still hopefully things will progress in our favour.

Cheers

I have heard of people being interviewed on the phone before. I think it is when the paperwork looks ok and but the ECO just wants something clarified.

In all the cases I know of the visa has been issued.

Like Scouse says, they would be on very shaky ground if they refused based on a mere phone interview. I am 99% sure that if the phone interview had been unsatisfactory then she would have been called in for a full interview at the embassy.

Regent house are not part of the embassy, so would not know the result. To respect applicants privacy passports are returned to them in sealed envelopes.

So, I think congratulations are in order.
