Sheryl
Can anyone advise what the procedure is for 2 foreign nationals to get married (to each other) in Thailand?
lopburi3
Same as for Thai - both will have to get letter from respective Embassy/translated/registered and present at District Office along with passports. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service/marriage.html The problem areas would be those unable to obtain letters - so not easy for some adjacent countries. Mario2008
Per above. In particulair a Laotion national will find it difficult to get the required paperwork, as their government doesn't like their nationals getting married with a foreigner. But otheriwise the procedur is very simple. One can get married at any amphur, so often easier to choose an amphur where they have experience in marrying a foreigner. Sheryl
Thanks. This is for a Cambodian and a Brit. I'll probabkt advise them to start with the Camb Embassy as that is likely to be the most problmeatic.

A legal wedding (means at the amphur) in Thailand is by default recognised in the UK.
lopburi3
As said it is automatically accepted by UK law - it is a legal marriage if done by the laws of Thailand. However believe UK has a system to record in UK records so legal/translations would not be required. It costs a bit from reports and is not needed - but might save some time and trouble for some. A UK requirement could be having copy of Thai marriage certificate translated and recorded with Thai MFA and this recording would eliminate that step (each time) later if it came up for insurance/pension or other reason.
