webfact Posted February 19, 2015 Share Posted February 19, 2015 US$400 monthly minimum wage for Filipinos in BruneiBANGKOK: -- Filipino migrant workers in Brunei are now guaranteed a monthly minimum wage of US$400, according to a new advisory issued by the Philippine Overseas Labour Office, The Brunei Times reported.The advisory states that domestic workers, unskilled workers and semi-skilled workers will be entitled to a minimum salary of US$400 per month.Unskilled workers, as defined by the Philippine government are farm hands and labourers, while semi-skilled workers are defined as waiters, sales assistants, janitors, drivers, tailors and assistant cooks.Skilled workers – carpenters, masons, plumbers, technicians, heavy machine operators, chefs, bakers and beauticians – will command a minimum salary of $600 per month.Professionals are expected to earn no less than $1,000 per month.The Philippines embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan said the advisory will affect all new contracts effective January 5.
