European couple, husband retired but I'm not - which visa best for 5 months stay

We are a German/Italian couple and have been spending about 5 months in Thailand in the past years.

So far we have used the double entry tourist visa: after 60 days visa run. spending a few days out of THL, second entry and another 60 days... then back home to Italy.

Could we also do as follows?:

After 60 days stay ... get 30 day extension, once extension is over, leave Thailand for visa run and get 2nd entry for another 60 d?

But we are looking for a different type of visa if possible:

As my husband is 66 now and retired. I am 55 and still working in Italy during the time back there.

Would another option be a non-immigrant visa.? Visa O or retirement... Sorry I have read so much about the various types of visa I don't understand too much (most posts are from males who have Thai gf or wife). So it's kind of difficult.

What's the prerequisite for my husband to get a this non-immigrant visa and ... would I be able to get one too (not being retired and 55 yrs old). Is there such a thing as multiple entry non-immigrant visa ... or extension?

Actually all we want is to stay in Thailand about 5 months.

Thanks so much for reading this post and all your help in advance.

Your husband could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement showing the financial proof and then you could get an extension as his dependent. Then get re-entry permits for your trips home.

He would need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 60 days or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

You both would need non-o visas to apply for the extension. You could go to Vientiane Laos for single entry non-o visas. He would show his financial proof and you would show your marriage certificate in English or a translation to Thai of it. Then during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry the visa allows you both could apply for your extensions.

If you are in Italy now you could try to get the non-o visas at one of the honorary Thai consulates there.

Or you could stay on tourist visas. If you could get 2 entry tourist visas they would give you a total stay of about 6 months by getting the 30 day extension for each entry. You would just have to make border run to use the 2nd entry,

thanks so much Ubonjoe. I guess we will just go ahead next time with the double entry tourist visa option which is much less hassle and does not involve all that proof of money.

Is correct like this ?: after 60 days get 30 day extension ... then leave Thailand and reenter with another 60 days ahead which could be extended another 30 days?

Thanks in advance ... I'm admiring your input in answering so many posts and your patience :)

You are correct on how the 2 entry tourist visa works.

At most embassies and consulates a 2 entry visa is issued with 6 months validity but some only do them with 3 months validity.. Check the enter before date on the visa when you get it and be sure you use the 2nd entry on or before that date
