English speaking staff M1 English Program

Featured Replies

Love it!

Could I meet the farang teachers at your school?

Sorry we do not have any this year.

You mean you are offering an English Program with no native speakers? Not even Philippinos?

Yes! Very cheap only 19000B a term

Roll on!

I have had an ad running for about a month and i cannot find any native speaking teachers. 95% of the applicants have been from Cameroon.

Well done to the krusapa! They have now made so hard for a NES to get a teaching position that schools are now unable to even fill positions in a MEP program whish is their money maker. Time for schools to turn around and tell Krusapa/TCT to F off and let schools choose who they want to hire.

If the school says they were trying to find a NES teacher, that doesn't necessarily mean that they were actually trying

e.g. My school was "trying" to find a teacher with a BSc for all of the 3 years I was there. Yet they never once listed an advertisement or similar themselves, they were "trying" to wait for one to walk in and ask for a job (Or for us to meet one & introduce them).

But of course, they might have been legitimately trying, but simply not offering enough money. From the sounds, it's a money making scheme anyway, with 19,000 THB per term, that's quite expensive for an M1 program with no foreign teachers. Although maybe you could have a chat with the Thai teachers, as it's possible that they may just have very very good Thai teachers instead.

e.g. The first school I taught at in Thailand, was a primary school, and most (4/6) of the EP homeroom teachers could speak English very very well (As in, very few grammar mistakes and could discuss most topics without having to grasp for vocab etc). But then 2 of them had travelled abroad & had Farang partners, 1 was Christian and so had spent a lot of time with western missionaries while the other was just really good at English, without necessarily having a particular reason.
