  • Lets face a few facts, the Buddhist "religion" in Thailand is so far removed from the teaching of Lord Buddha it is out-of-sight. For starters Buddhism is not a religion but a philosophy on the way t

It's just surprising that people still feel the need for religion in this day and age. Just look at the news. Most problems stem from religion. Where is it actually creating the peace and harmony that

The entire upper echelons of Thailand is corrupt. What this nation needs is a healthy dose of democracy to disinfect the place.

BTW, why isn't Phra Buddha-Isara in jail?

Name one instance where democracy 'disinfected' anything.

The monk isn't in jail because he hasn't committed a crime.

I'm beginning to think you are a troll. You make wild, controversial statements with nary a supporting link, and you don't/can't defend your statements.

They should make a movie about this fake monk. Could call it "Life of Buddha-isara"

Yes they should then you and the other bitter twisted PT supporters would see just how good he really is and how much good he has done for the poor and the people.

Right now he is standing up for Buddhist principles against an extremely rich and it would seem corrupt temple and a supreme council that looks to be backing it.

But he was part of the movement that ousted the corrupt government of the lovely Yingluck and you can never forgive him for that.

Sorry to inform you but I have never been a PT supporter or a Shinawatra fan. So what good have this super rich monk done for the poor of Thailand?

Where in the hell did you ever get the idea that Luang Por Buddha-Issara is rich? blink.png

Is it normal that a Thai monk set up a rice mill?

Luang Pu enters the rice business

Luang Pu Buddha Issara, an anti-government protest leader and senior monk, has recently showed an interest in the problems of angry rice farmers who have spent months waiting for the money owed them by the government in its rice-pledging scheme.

Last week he led farmers from the central provinces to to the Government Lottery Office building in Nonthaburi's Sanambin Nam district with a shipment of 112 tonnes of rice.

Once there, he demanded the GLO purchase the rice. After three hours of negotiations, the GLO agreed to buy 112 tonnes of rice at 12,000 baht per tonne, totalling 1.3 million baht.

Now it appears the monk is going into the rice business himself

So, now that he's showing the rice farmers that they don't have to be ripped off by the rice mill owners, by setting up a rice milling machine at his temple, so that the rice farmers can now mill their own rice and showing that they can also sell their own rice direct instead of going through greedy rice brokers, he's now rich. Wow.. this makes no sense to me on any level. coffee1.gif

Unfortunately I believe there are some millionaire preachers in the US, reminds me of Ray Stevens song "Would Jesus wear a Rolex watch".

And, it was reported that Clinton's received a lot in contributions from Buddhist Nuns in a Los Angeles Temple during their campaigns.

American preachers never took a promise of poverty.

As with most things the basic theory soon gets tossed overboard especially if it is not profitable.

When one hides behind the robes of budhism to hide his criminal activities he deserves to be put against the wall.

yep exactly where Suthep and his mad monk mate Issara should be. Two of the most evil pieces of work in Thailand hiding behind robes. Going to need the great wall of China.

Never heard about a Buddhist monk starting a business on the temple grounds before (even if it benefits the poor rice farmers it's still a business) Also demanding GLA to buy the farmers rice for 12.000 THB per tonne also makes me wonder about this monk.

It appears that nothing I say will have any effect on what you think.. It's not a business... he has several rice thrashing or milling pieces of equipment on the temple ground, somewhere out in the parking area.. farmers can bring their raw rice there, mill it, sack it, then sell it direct to rice wholesalers. The temple does not charge the farmers for use of this equipment and offer to help them sell it, at no charge.. The GLA is going to buy rice anyway, and he has talked them into paying the farmers direct the same amount they would pay to the rice millers. If they (GLA) are paying the rice millers 12,000, he expects the GLA to pay the farmers 12,000.. end of story.. What is wrong with that?
