BANGKOK: -- Four core spirits are to be proposed to the Constitution Drafting Committee as the key components of the new constitution which is in the process of being drafted, said Dr Bovorksak Uwanno, chairman of the CDC on Monday.

He outlined the four core spirits as empowerment of the people, clean and balance politics, social justice and peace for the nation.

The CDC chairman explained that the four core spirits were based on the opinions of all sectors of the society compiled by the CDC and they were drawn up to make it to be easily understandable using layman’s language instead of legal jargons.

While admitting that national reconciliation is necessary, Dr Bovornsak said that political conflicts were just the symptom of social and economic disparity and one way to address this problem is to bring about social justice and to empower the people.

The CDC today moved its meeting venue to Pattaya where CDC members would be huddling together for six days to draft altogether 111 sections of the new charter or an average of 22 sections a day on chapters regarding the parliament, the cabinet and a system for good leaders.

Empowerment of the people - Those in power do not want the "people" to have power or be educated. They ask questions.

Clean and balance(sic) politics - This does not even deserve a comment. They rape and plunder this country mercilessly.

Social Justice - You mean like the rubbish guy whole sold CD's he found on a junk pile went to jail and Red Bull heir and Moo Ham walk free...laughable

Peace for the Nation - Perhaps if you give the lower half back to Malaysia, otherwise, untenable.

There is a reason that legalese is employed: it is to clarify the basic ideas. "Empowerment of the people" has no meaning until it is defined. The same goes for the other three ideas, or ideals. I can see the Constitutional Court running up a 20-year backlog in the first six months after the charter is enacted unless the meanings are specified and clarified beforehand. I think they are very good ideals indeed, but much work will have to be done to bring them to fruition.
