BANGKOK, Feb 23 -- Hirunya Suchinai, acting secretary-general of the Board of Investment (BoI), said a positive Japanese response to the new BoI policies was aired during the Thai ministers' visit to Tokyo last week.

Deputy Prime Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula and Industry Minister Chakramon Phasukavanich led the BoI delegation in the trip.

During the trip to Japan, the BoI presented its new policies and in response, Japanese investors confirmed they would continue to expand their businesses in Thailand, she said.

Ms Hirunya said Japanese investors understood that the new policies were necessary and they also expressed interest in new investment areas that the Thai government was promoting.

She referred to investment in international headquarters, international trading centers, research and development, personnel training, waste-to-energy projects and businesses relating to digital economy including the software business.

The BoI delegation also met representatives of the Japan Business Federation, the Kansai Economic Federation and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce & Industry and they paid attention to Thailand's ambition to be a trade hub of the region and inquired about BoI's investment promotions in this area.

Besides, the BoI delegation met the governor of Aichi prefecture which houses automotive industries and the governor assured that Thailand remained as the investment destination of companies from Aichi.

The BoI and the Industry Ministry plan business matching between Thai and Japanese small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Japanese SMEs were good at production while Thai counterparts could assist in management, Ms Hiranya said. (MCOT online news)

How many times have I seen Thailand obfuscate by talking about a meeting but using no quotes from it. This is Thailand's spin on the issue, not a report about what Japan said.

Thailand will be beaten by several others including the Phils which is Asia's fastest rising star, and Thailand doesn't have a clue it's happening much less why it's happening.

So then, if you don't believe what the Thai news agencies reported about the meeting, what exactly did the Japanese news agencies say about the meeting?

Did you even bother to look before posting?

btw, it's not "Thailand" that you accuse of "obfuscating" and "spinning", it's MCOT.
