Beetlejuice
My family and I were going to spend a month touring Paris and London, but have cancelled the trip knowing these cities are on the list. I see that Syria is not including on the list, so instead we have chosen to spend 4 weeks in the paradise capital city of Damascus. So it`s not all bad. Mencken
Absurd. I wouldn't trust my wife in the streets in most major US and European cities aline at night. Bangkok ahead of Manila? Lol. Much of Africa is safer than Philippines.

BKKBobby
So Syria, Iraq and Libya would be OK then, and Saudi Arabia as long as they were accompanied by a US president and didn't want to drive a car. War zones isnt counted (Syria, Libya and Iraq) as places to travel at all.

boomerangutang
Besides the M.East, there are none in Africa. Flawed list and/or flawed criteria. In most African cities, if a visiting woman is not raped, it's unusual.
Familyonthemove
There was another survey recently that had Seoul as the safest place - and I can believe that. I can only guess that Bangkok is in the list because of handbag snatching? But for real danger Mexico takes some beating as a risky tourist spot. New York safer than Tokyo? It looks like some stupid desk writer who has not seen any of these cities threw the dice and then made up this list. Best forget it quickly and put this editior (or idiodor) on your private black list.
