Amazing how threads like this always bring out the Sherlocks and conspiracists......Guy got rat-arsed, went for a swim, drowned. This for the USA, were almost 10 people a day drown on average: Alcohol Use: Among adolescents and adults, alcohol use is involved in up to 70% of deaths associated with water recreation, almost a quarter of ED visits for drowning, and about one in five reported boating deaths.2,15,17 Alcohol influences balance, coordination, and judgment, and its effects are heightened by sun exposure and heat.17

Just like the Frenchman found hanging by a rope with his hands behind his back. They're very quick to write these deaths off aren't they?
Popular Post Valentine
It is not that hard. When I was young & more stupid over Xmas/New Year celebrations & after some heavy drinking I decided enough & walked back to the camp at around 11pm with the assistance of 2 young ladies. Feeling very groggy I decided to freshen up by having a dip in the lake. Next thing I woke up a long way out, disorientated & with a wind swell whipping up, not the best place to be. It seemed to take forever to swim back to shore especially as I was getting mouth fulls of water from the swell. I relate this just to show how easy it can be to drown. I thought I would that night although at one stage after thinking it would be so easy just to slip away as my life was flashing through my head I decided I still had lots to see & do in this life. Travelman868
It seems that every day now, some farang is found dead. Makes me wonder. Something about Thai Islands. Young people go out and get drunk but only in Thailand do so many die. The police could learn to keep their mouth's shut until they have investigated. As an ex beach lifeguard I saw it far too often but always before they drowned, fortunately.
joebrown
Fully justifying Thailand's well documented reputation as being one of the most dangerous destinations for tourists in the world. Seen the Daily Mail today? No because it is blocked in Thailand www.dailymail.co.uk I've just been able to look at www.dailymail.co.uk and I live in Thailand. However I can't find anything in today's news that is of any great interest other than a feature on Medical Care in foreign countries which places Thailand in the average/middle ground for quality of care. Is there another more 'interesting' news item somewhere else in the Daily Mail?. If so, 'Seelow' can you please enlighten me?
