visa for sister

Featured Replies

Hi fellas,

my partner has been in australia for 12 months now on a bridging visa. she will have residence in about another year. we have a son who has australian citerzinship. her sister wants to come for holday visa. l want to know can she get a six month tourist visa with my support or will she have to settle for 3 months. l have rang australian govt. they cannot give me an answer. they said to talk with embesey in bkk, but l won't be there till april.

cheers big ears

Moved to the visas for other countries forum.

She can apply for a 6 month visa but it's extremely unlikely it will be granted.

Your best bet is as you've said, a 3 month s/c 600 tourist stream visa.

She can apply online now as well.

There are such things as telephones.

true, but there is nothing better than advise from a bloke on the forum that has done what l want to do. get the picture frits

Apply for the 6 month one and provide good reason why you want a 6 month one and hope for the best. A lot of times they may not grant you a 6 month visa but will call and offer a 3 month one instead.

I would apply online for it while your in Australia, no need to wait until you go to Bangkok, unless you want too.

l would do online but sister is only doing passport now and she is still getting all her paper work together. if she post it to me in a couple of weeks it takes about two weeks to get here, l think it would be too late. l have done it before in bkk and its not too hard. but l will go for 6 months and they can always downgrade me to 3 months

cheers surin13

Apparently you haven't placed a phone call to a government agency in the past 10 years or you would be saying "there are such things as telephone answering recordings that are looped to other recordings that never lead to one talking to a human being".

You might want to read the post again.

lannarebirth wasn't having a go at you at all.

FYI online applications only require you to scan and upload the documents, so if she can scan and email them to you this can bypasses the post problems.
