Departure Card Question

Featured Replies

I am in Chiang Mai and on a double entry Tourist Visa in which I need to use my 2nd entry by April 6. I plan to do a "boarder run" to Mae Sai to activate my 2nd entry. My understanding is that all I need as far as documents is the departure card. This departure card was stapled in my passport when I first arrived in Thailand on the Visa page. My question is I don't have a return date as I plan to get an Ed Visa once my Tourist Visa is up.

Will it be a problem if I leave the card blank??

Before activating the 2nd entry, you can extend for 30 days at immigration, cost is Bt 1,900.

When you arrive, fill only the "Arrival" portion for immigration to keep. Leave the departure part blank, immigration will stamp it.

When you depart, fill and sign the above mentioned departure card. Immigration will keep it.

That's all.

Thanks, I know about the 30 day extension, but I am not interested in extending as I want to start school sooner.

So does the 2nd portion of your reply have to do with when I arrive at Mae Sai or are you speaking of Immigration to extend?

You fill the arrival/departure card at the border, in and out. There is no way to do it wrong.

Ok, thanks!

I have never put anything more on the departure card than my name and passport number when I enter the country. The remainder I leave blank.
