US ambassador expected to be in place before Thailand has elected government

The US Senate must approve the appointment of ambassadors, and federal judges.

Currently there are 49 vacancies only 12 nominees for judges.

Ambassador positions are about 25% vacant.

Who knows when the Thailand ambassador position will be filled?

No rush as I doubt there will be an election within the next 30 yrs or more

I am not so pessimistic. 2020 is more likely - with the election commission being run with North Korean assistance

A few months ago I read where Pres. Obama was having trouble getting approvals. Is it still log jammed?

Since President Reagan the Senate confirmation process has been a pain.

Don was commenting on a report that the new Thai ambassador to the US, Pisarn Manawapt, had paid a courtesy call on President Barack Obama, though he has yet to receive a report on the meeting.

That is if there ever will be a report.

Mister President it's the ambassador from that undemocratic country in SE Asia on the line.

Doesn't matter, just tell him I'm in the bathroom and hang up.

Actually the Deputy Foreign Minister if quoted correctly ( which I freely admit he may not have been given the source) has demonstrated himself to be either a fool or a liar.

It is simply not credible that if the Thai ambassador in Washington has had an exchange with Obama that the report on the meeting would not have been submitted to the Foreign Ministry in Bangkok as a matter of utmost urgency.
