BANGKOK: -- Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police have arrested a suspected gunman they said was connected to the shooting of four persons to death in Nakhon Si Thammarat province last Sunday.

The suspect was identified as Kolawat Sukraksa.

CSD police said they believed Kolawat was among a team of gunmen who shot dead four persons, one of them was Mr Kriangkrai Chumthong.

Kruangkrai was alleged to be a hired gunman suspected of shooting dead a mayor of Khao Chumthong municipality two years ago.

The Sunday shooting might be a conflict between two groups of hired gunmen. One group might receive order to kill a person but did not comply with the order after getting the money. The hirer then hired a second group to kill him to shut his mouth.

Another possible motive might be double cross in illicit business, police said.
