Can anyone give me a few pointers on what is needed to start teaching English, I live in the wilds of Issan country so theres no schools hear for diplomas would an on-line TEFL course be of any help and if so would it be good enough to secure a job. I've been teaching English at our local school for the experience for a few months and would like to try and make a few Baht, which would please the wife immensely.

kevc, welcome to Teaching in Thailand forum. Near the top of this forum's front page is a terribly long topic about "Qualifications." And please, look through more than just the front page for topics that interest you.

If you just can't get to BKK or Chiang Mai or Phuket for a classroom course, your next best bet would be online. Good luck.
