Obama, Netanyahu on collision course 6 years in the making

Stratfor has an interesting article about the whole situation:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is visiting the United States this week to speak to Congress on March 3. The Obama administration is upset that Speaker of the House John Boehner invited Netanyahu without consulting with the White House and charged Boehner with political grandstanding. Netanyahu said he was coming to warn the United States of the threat of Iran. Israeli critics of Netanyahu charged that this was a play for public approval to improve his position in Israel's general election March 17. Boehner denied any political intent beyond getting to hear Netanyahu's views. The Obama administration claimed that the speech threatens the fabric of U.S.-Israeli relations.

Worth a read:

https://www.stratfor.com/weekly/netanyahu-obama-and-geopolitics-speeches

This has nothing to do with the personalities of Barack Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu. The United States has shown it cannot pacify countries with available forces. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome. If the United States is not involved on the ground in a conflict, then it becomes a problem for regional powers to handle. If the regional powers take the roles they must, they should balance against each other without a single regional hegemon emerging.

Israel does not want to be considered by the United States as one power among many. It is focused on the issue of a nuclear Iran, but it knows that there is no certainty that Iran's nuclear facilities can be destroyed or that sanctions will cause the Iranians to abandon the nuclear program. What Israel fears is an entente between the United States and Iran and a system of relations in which U.S. support will not be automatic.

This nonsense about needing nuclear for energy is just that...nonsense.

Iran is currently third in the world with known oil reserves and second in the world with known natural gas reserves.

An "energy need" argument is silly to say the least. Iran wants nuclear to make weapons, plain and simple.

If you guys think a bunch of Chicago politicians can "play" the Mullahs of Iran into doing anything they don't want to do, let us know what medication you are on.

If anybody is being played, it's Kerry, Obama and the American people.

The Iranians cannot be trusted and will simply break any agreement they sign.

This is all merely an exercise in more of Obama's foreign policy adventures, and it will very likely end up like all the others.

Oil reserves in the OPEC countries will run out in a not too distant future when sold and used at this pace.

Care to provide a link showing when the Iranian oil and gas reserves are scheduled to run out?

The topic isn't about OPEC's oil and gas reserves.

You used Irans oil and gas reserves as a argument to say that the country doesnt need other sources of energy.

Read your own post! Chuck D, figh the... PE

more oil and gas reserves are being found, every day.

the reason the oil prices are getting lower, is because more oil is being put on the market

The compulsive obsession with Prez Obama does require medication but none of the obsessives can recognize their obsession and therefore are not on the needed medicine.

Iran is negotiating with the P5+1, which are: Germany, France, Russia, USA, China, UK.

Chicago has no foreign policy nor does it want one.

Russia, China push for consensus on Iran nuclear deal

“We’ve been in close contact with the US, Iran as well as Russia and other world powers," says Cheng Jingye, Chinese ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency. "The aim for us is to facilitate each party to reach a consensus as much as possible, and China is playing a constructive role in pushing the talks forward.”

In Vienna, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry have “exchanged opinions on what steps could be made to maximally contribute to the achievement of a comprehensive settlement of the situation around Iran’s nuclear program”, said a Russian Foreign Ministry statement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning to have a phone conversation on Monday with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani, Lavrov said on Sunday during his meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.

“Tomorrow, he [Putin] plans to talk to Rouhani, the administrations are in touch,” Lavrov said.

Iran is not negotiation with the P+ anyone

Iran is not negotiation.

John Kerry and Barack Hussein Obama are negotiating with themselves

Iran has not now, nor ever budged on anything, and

Putin just signed a nuclear deal with Egypt,

what is taking place are negotations not to destroy Iran,

which are doomed to fail

it is only a matter of time for Saudi Arabia to decide on its own, they have had enough of Iran's expansion.

No one should ne surprised if Saudi-Egypt-Turkey-Jordan, do not decide to obliterate all of Iran so as not to miss anything

Iran is not invincible, far from it,

They are not a modern army

I was talking about already known existing oil reserves in the OPEC countries. Oil that is cheap to extract.

Oil in the world will never run out.

And the oil you might have in your backyard might be of very low quantity and costly to extract.

My question..."Care to provide a link showing when the Iranian oil and gas reserves are scheduled to run out?"

I cant provide you that link because Im not the one to decide how much oil should be extracted in the future from the known oil reserves in Iran.

No living person can provide a proof of when this will happen since we cant predict if the OPEC countries will extract more/less from their known oil reserves in the future.

I cant prove it and you cant contradict it, see?

If Iran continues with extracting and selling oil at this pace then the known oil reserves with cheaply extracted oil will become depleted.

If the known oil reserves of the OPEC countries are extracted and sold at this pace, then the oil reserves of cheaply extracted oil in these countries will be depleted in a not too distant future.

This will happen when you are hanging out with Jesus I guess.

Read about "Peak Oil". Buy a book or use google.

Oil in the world will never become depleted.

There are oil outside the OPEC countries that will become cheaper to extract with new technology.

Even you might have a few drops of costly extracted oil in your backyard.

You still haven't answered the question but never mind.

You simply can't back up your original comment.

Dear Chuck D,

This is not a competition.

Im saying what I said from the beginning.

Irans known oil reserves will not last forever.

The country and its people have a 2500 year old history.

They probably plan to be around for a few hundred years more.

They want nuclear technology and energy capabilities.

Sorted, the end.

They have half of North Dome. They aren't going to be running out of fossil fuel for a long time.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a highly anticipated address to Congress, delivered a message to the Obama administration on Tuesday about the threat posed by Iran: "The enemy of your enemy -- is your enemy."

The Israeli leader spoke as part of a high-profile push to make his case against a pending nuclear deal with Iran. He urged the U.S. not to "be fooled" by Iran's efforts to oppose the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, a group the U.S. also is fighting. Netanyahu said those groups are "competing for the crown of militant Islam."

"When it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy -- is your enemy," he said.

He also blasted the terms of the potential nuclear deal. He said Iran is notorious for playing a game of "hide and cheat" with inspectors.

In his opening remarks, Netanyahu said he regrets some have perceived his visit as political. "That was never my intention," he said.

He said he had a "profound obligation" to discuss an issue -- Iran's quest for nuclear weapons -- that "could well threaten the survival of my country."

The address was the centerpiece of a controversial visit that has fueled diplomatic tensions between the Obama and Netanyahu administration -- and political tensions on Capitol Hill.

House Speaker John Boehner had invited the Israeli leader without involving President Obama, which is considered a breach in protocol. Republican leaders defended the move, saying it's important for Netanyahu to explain the threats posed by Iran and his concerns with the current nuclear talks.

But dozens of Democrats sat out the Israeli leader's speech. And Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice went so far in recent days as to call Netanyahu's speech "destructive" to U.S.-Israeli ties -- though administration officials have since toned down their characterization of his visit.
