my wife and i see all here friends take soaps on tv for real life when there on you cant talk they get sad get angry at bad men on the shows

if i say something about they are not real only tv show

they look at me as if i stupid and told to go to bed darling

Soap operas...... A hit the world over. Why is that, well in my opinion soaps simply follow the same rules the world over regardless where it gets aired.

Where soaps fall down is where the viewer of said soap....say from India are viewed by Russians.....Not going to work is it?

Soaps are made for a defined audiences, with a little over spill, for example; UK soaps will get a degree of following in the USA and Korea will get some following in the rest of Asia.

The simple formula, KISS, (keep it simple stupid) and play to the lowest common denominate....Dumb it down! Play on the cultural beliefs, superstitions, local morals..... Throw in some good guys, pretty girls, money, sex...some <deleted>, Its the same formula the world over.

Why are Thai soaps so bad, with over acting and 'sound effects? Remember 'KISS' and dumb it down.......... You can tell a lot about a counties society by the TV it watches.

As for Thais getting upset and swallowing the crap they are watching.....Well soap watchers the world over are just the same, its not just a Thai thing.

OK... Thai soaps are utter 'CRAP'......But I have to say though the main reason I think westerners will never understand what Thais see in them, is because they are based on Thai culture, so we, westerners have no reference point to start viewing from.
