Stopping it would always be a top priority and Israel did the same thing that almost anyone would do. It is just lucky that the Israelis are smart enough to prevent more of their own citizens from dying, because it certainly is not because of lack of trying on the Palestinians' part.

I think you will find that most of those rockets were in response to Israel's unprovoked attacks on Gaza in 2008 using phosphorus bombs against innocent civilians and 2012, resulting again in 1000s of Palestinian deaths

Israel sought to halt the rocket and mortar fire from Gaza that killed four Israeli civilians and caused widespread trauma and disruption of life in Israeli towns and villages close to the Gaza border. The simple fact is, When Israel vacated Gaza, Hamas could have chosen peace and built ifrastructure, they could have had a thriving tourist industry. Instead they chose to attack Israel.
