Prayut calls his cabinet ministers to be role model to fight corruption

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday told his cabinet ministers to be role models to fight and get rid of corruption.

His advice came as he chaired the cabinet Tuesday to reiterate his anti corruption policy.

He has ordered all sectors to give importance to corruption prevention and eradication, noting that the issue must be raised as a national agenda.

Deputy government spokesman Major General Sansern Keaokamnerd said that the prime minister has repeated call for all ministries and agencies to beef up corruption prevention and eradication, and that the issues be raised as a national agenda.

To achieve the task, he said the ministers should be taken as a role model for anti-corruption.

The premier has also said that all agencies should reduce traveling for working trips abroad to help save budget, this include traveling on economy class tickets.

He also ordered the Committee on Public Budget Expenditures to inspect budgets and financial processes and operations in all public organisations to ensure confidence, quick processes, and transparency, the deputy spokesman said.

Transparency and clean orders start at home, Sire. Where's your transparency, and those of your cabinet, explaining your riches gained from nothing?

It's one step forward but this won't either prevent nor eradicate corruption. For that to happen you need to have full transparency and that needs to start at the very top of the tree and work down. It's unlikely that Prayut would allow an open, transparent and independent assessment of his and his families assets.

For him to ask others he must be willing to do the same so ... come on Prayut put your money where your mouth is or it's likely people will assume that Ali Baba is merely asking his forty thieves to go straight whilst he continues to plunder.

Action needs to back up the words otherwise it's just noise and we all know how Thais like to make noise.

Wonder if any of them are a pure as they profess to be, or can bear any scrutiny.

The premier has also said that all agencies should reduce traveling for working trips abroad to help save budget, this include traveling on economy class tickets.

Come on, they will get a free upgrade to first or business class as always.

They actually pay ? Thought Thai Airways was free for all Thai elites. Stand corrected.

What can you say about this guy without being arrested?

At least he managed to say it without breaking into hilarious laughter. Must be more politically able than some allow.

He probably is just more self-delusional and believes the crap that comes out of his mouth.

Spoken by a true paragon of virtue no less................. looking past the many hundreds of millions of baht he possesses obviously

So Yingluk knew she was lying, again?

Costas this must be a typing error or are you starting to see the truth. That is that no person that have had political power in this country have ever used that power for the good of the WHOLE country and ALL of its people. When either side is in control they just look after themselves and their power base(s), but never have this country had a leader that could balance the interest of both sides.

.....because his father sold some land and gave the proceeds to him.

not speak, fire the first corrupt one you find......shouldn't be that hard to find one.

There would not be so many rich military officers in the government (or in general) if not for corruption.....

There would not be so many rich military officers in the government (or in general) if not for corruption.....

(or in general).....was that a Freudian slip?

While his NLA members are employing children wives and no doubt mia nois all at public expense which the many involved are all saying is quite okay by their standards. With the seal of approval from the General who said it was not wrong or words to that effect, we can see that Thais really just don't know right from wrong. they all think they are entitled and do as they please with the harshest punishment a move to an inactive post. The place is a joke. Don;t blabber on about fighting corruption until you create a policy of NO CORRUPTION and harsh penalties for breaking the law and an effective and rapid process of prosecution and imprisonment - doubly so for civil servants and politicians. Then publicize it with a bounty payable for people shopping these traitors.

Let's start at the top with the PM being a role model and becoming transparent, declare all you assets and don't make yourself exempt from scrutiny and criticism. Lead and people may follow your example.

It's very easy to say that when you're already a millionaire.

A lot of them are from rich families before they went into the military.
