Chalong Inspector, Lt Chalada Chokdeesrijan and her team inspect the crime scene.

PHUKET: -- The body of Burmese man was found at the roadside in Soi Kwan Uoo Shrine in Chalong yesterday morning. A sack full of kratom leaves was found on the body.

At 07:30am, Chalong police were called to investigate the body of a male that was found near a Burmese camp in Chalong.

Chalong Inspector, Lt Chalada Chokdeesrijan arrived at the scene with a team of officers and Phuket Ruamjai rescuers to find a group of residents and Burmese workers gathered around the body of a 20-25 year old male lying on the road.

Around the mans neck was a blue cloth sack with 40 fresh kratom leaves. The victim wore a short sleeve shirt with short pants and no shoes.

The man had what police said were signs of elecrocution on his chest and his right hand, and police believe the man had been dead for at least three hours.

Rescue workers took the body to Vachira hospital for autopsy.

Police questioned Burmese workers from the nearby work camp hoping to get more information about the victim, but they said they didn̕t know who he was and had never seen him before.

Police assumed that the victim went into a nearby village and had stolen the kratom leaves unaware that an electrical fence had been placed around a house or kratom tree.

They believe one possibilty is that when the man got electrocuted, villagers became afraid that they would be held responsible for the death and may have dumped the dead body near the Burmese camp.

Police are now looking in the area for a house with a kratom tree and are not ruling out any possibility in the case.

...is that a reason why he should be killed....

...or what is being implied here......

...he was guilty of something.....???

...could anyone else have planted the bag there....???

...I am sure there is a lot more to the story.....and I hope they catch the murderer(s).....

According to the theory he would have been electrocuted after having packed ?

And someone takes up the job to carry him away but doesn't get the sack with the leaves, as to leave (pun intended) a lead ?

Sure it's possible, but ...

I'll bet there were plenty more than 40 Kratom leaves in the blue bag total, BEFORE they were counted.
