Renewing a tourist visa after 6 months

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been here legally for 6 months on a double entry tourist visa, and I really want to stay another 2 months but here that this could be a problem.

I have no overstay, i can produce 20,000 baht on entry, I'm on a european passport.

I'd like to know what peopes experiences are in similar situations, and what is the best option for me as far as borders / airports etc.

Thanks all

Dave

The best would be that you get another tourist visa, single or double entry, so that the two months you are thinking now can be extended. Cost of visa is about Bt 1,000 per entry plus travel and visa on arrival if needed.

Otherwise for 30 days visa exempt you can do an entry by air, or if from a G7 country (there is no such thing as European passport beside the logo on the cover) by land, which you can extend for 30 more at immigration, cost Bt 1,900.

The best location to do that depends on where you are and what is your budget.

You have missed your chances already. Each entry gives you 60 days plus a 30 day extension. All together it would have been OK for 180 days. After this period you have to apply for another visa. What is your question?

How has he missed his chance? He's been here for 6 months, which is more or less 180 days.

He can leave and return using a visa exempt entry (just present his passport at the airport or border crossing), which will give him 30 days ( if he flies back in or if he crosses a land border and is from a G7 country) or 15 days otherwise. He then can get a 30 day extension of stay at an immigration office for a total of 45 or 60 days.

Probably better, he could go to a neighboring country & get a single entry tourist visa at a Thai embassy or consulate, which would give him a 60 day entry and, if he needed it, that also could be extended by 30 days at immigrations, which will ensure him more than the two months he wants. He would be applying for a new visa. Visas cannot be "renewed."

Getting a second tourist visa will not be a problem and once he has the visa, there will be no problem with immigrations when he returns to Thailands

Thanks for the input everyone, maybe I had my wires crossed, I thought it was going to be a problem, but I'll go get another visa.
