...but with no significant damage could be "false flag" for obvious effect.

I think they have violated Martial Law. Who or what group are against, or is inhibited by, Martial Law? I think these perpetrators did not initiate this action themselves, but were put up to it by someone who doesn't like Martial Law. Those who enforce Martial Law wouldn't do this because is makes it look like they don't have control of the situation. There will be posters who blame the NCPO for this but it does not serve the interests of the NCPO as they have already established Martial Law. The NCPO has shown, repeatedly, that they don't need any special reason to continue Martial Law so it is definitely someone who is against Martial Law. I hope the government finds out who was behind this. Martial Law.

p.s. Does anyone know if this is the court where former PM Yingluck Shinawatra will be tried?

Ms. Yingluck's case is being considered by the Supreme Court for Political Office Holders. That's a different court. I don't know location though.

3-8-2015-1-34-42-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court on Ratchadapisek was attacked with a hand grenade and small firearms Saturday night, prompting security officials in Bangkok to step up security at important places around the capital today.

Two suspects were immediately apprehended after a brief exchange of fire with soldiers.

Both were taken to undisclosed place for questioning.

Deputy commander of the First Army Region Maj Gen Apirat Kongsompong rushed to inspect the scene of explosion Friday night, along with explosive ordnance disposal police.

Royal Thai Police commissioner Pol Gen Somyot Phumphanmuang later said the grenade used in the attack at the Criminal Court was the Chinese RGD 5 type grenade which was same as those used during by perpetrators during the anti government rallies last year.

The grenade landed at the car park area of the Criminal Court and caused a 10- centimetre deep and a 20-centimetre wide hole on the floor.

EOD police reinspected the court compound again Sunday morning and discovered a loaded .357 revolver dropped at the scene, and two casings of 11 mm pistol, indicating the perpetrators intended to attack the court compound with more than one type of weapon.

Army spokesman Col Winthai Suwari said intelligence report pointed that there is still attempt to incite unrest in the country.

He said the army chief has been informed of the incident and has ordered security officials to monitor and keep watch on all unusual movement.

Close cooperation has bee established with the police to investigate the explosion last night, he said.

He confirmed two bomb suspects were immediately arrested and were being detained for questioning.

Military junta says bomb suspects closely tracked

3-8-2015-1-46-26-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The spokesman of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) said intelligence authorities have been closely tracked the two bomb suspects for a certain period and therefore could apprehend them immediately shortly after they hurled grenade at the Criminal Court last night.

Col Winthai Suwari said these perpetrators had been kept under close surveillance and tracked by security personnel until they rode on a motorcycle to lob the grenade at the court.

But he said security officials immediately moved in and there was brief gunfire and officials rammed their car at the fleeing attackers on the motorcycle.

Both fell on the road and were apprehended.

One was injured with four gunshots and he was rushed to hospital. He was identified as Yuthana Yenpinyo.

Another was identified as Mahahin Kunthong.

Col Winthai said the bomb attack was intended to create unrest in the country, and added that the attack was well planned and in defiance of the law.

He said the prime minister was informed of the incident and he has ordered speedy investigation to bring all the suspects for trial immediately and to inform the public.

Must be the translation. As if less well planned attacks are not in defiance of the law

We've been watching these two very closely for a long time...yeah, that's the ticket. And we followed them all the time, but they got away for a minute and lobbed a grenade in...the parking lot. Yeah, that's believable. And afterwards we were right on them - shot one and nabbed the other perp (perp always sounds so damning--hee hee).

No one will ever figure this one out.

The grunts got caught not the people that planned this.

Yep. Whereas before, under CAPO the RTP would have simply turned a blind eye or released them as they did on a number of occasions the army are a tad different. The grunts probably won't know what to do now. Wonder if they'll start spilling the beans? Could be interesting.
