Due to all the nonsense surrounding the education visa extensions i have decided to revert back to a tourist visa and study thai by myself and travel more.

I first came to Thailand 2 years ago and received back to back double entry tourist visas from Vientiane. For the last year i have an ED visa which expires next month.

Is there likely to be a problem to be issued 2 more back to back tourist visas from Vietiene before i go home next year?

Thank you for the information.

There is no problem. Bring evidence of money coming from abroad to maintain yourself, if you are on an extension of stay a letter from your school addressed to Nong Kai immigration, stating the day on which you will end studying, even if it is the last day of your extension. That is because they insist the extension to be cancelled before letting you leave. For a change you can also go to Savannakhet, and do without the above mentioned letter.

At this time is probably not essential but at the moment you can't produce it, they would stamp your passport accordingly.

So it's advised you have it, and residence papers like a rental contract.

Is the evidence of money coming from abroad essential. or is it likely i can get a visa without?

Having no evidence of income from abroad immediately raises questions about where income is obtained .

Illegal working would spring to mind.

Are there reports of people being asked for such information? I had a search and couldn't find anything specific.

The answer to your question is "yes" people have been challenged to provide evidence of where they derive their income .

Do as Paz suggests and be prepared to demonstrate income from abroad, for sure that is not difficult ------------or is it ?

It seems all the problems arised from having too many tourist visas back to back.

I have had different visas, i wonder if that would make a difference? However they were all from Vietiene.

Maybe i should just try, it wouldn't be the end of the world to go home early if i am refused a visa.

I did not wrote you would be refused. You would be stamped with a warning for the next time, or maybe given single entry when seeking double. I think is reasonable to try to avoid that.

The chain of back to back tourist visas from Vientiane has been broken by you getting a ED visa/extensions. You probably will not be asked to show financial proof until you have 2 or 3 of them back to back again.

Three back to back at Vientiane is a common number used but more can be obtained by showing proof of income and residence.
