dragonfly94
Malware bytes detects a few trojans and hacking things, all in appdata/loca/ temp folder but it does not delete them, on startup they come back. Tried starting in safe mode and deleting the temp folder but there is always one file that does not delete, 'open in another prog' Now when I try to type in google box the tpye appears in the browsers address bar. Tried cc cleaner and macafee no good either. Tried re naming the folder or moving it cannot do that either. Should I wipe the HD and start over? Chicog
Sometimes the best solution is a bootable malware cleaner. That way no files will be open when the scan/clean is done. There are a number of solutions here you can burn to DVD and boot. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/system-security/tp/free-bootable-antivirus-software.htm (Note: I wouldn't use the Panda one at the moment ) Edited March 13, 2015 by Chicog
Xircal
Don't delete the temp folder because the OS uses it to store files temporarily. What I would suggest you do is to post it on the Malwarebytes forum and let them advise you how to proceed further. https://forums.malwarebytes.org/ I'm assuming here that you're using the free version. If you have the premium version, you can email support directly, link on the following page: https://support.malwarebytes.org/?b_id=6438

rhythmworx
Try Hitman Pro it's free for 1 month. That gets rid of most stubborn stuff that malwarebytes cant delete. http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro If that doesn't work and you can back up/clone your drive use combofix (not compatible with 8.1) DO NOT press any keys while it is running though, follow the on screen instructions religiously. A back up may not be necessary, that's your choice. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/ Edited March 13, 2015 by rhythmworx
NeverSure
Do you know the name and location of the file(s) you want to delete? Another option is to install the disk in another computer as a slave, surf it and delete. Do you have another bootable media that will surf and delete a file? elVagabundo
While it has a gimmicky name, SUPERAntiSpyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/) is fantastic and free. It's been able to clean all the computers that I've had to fix up. Give it a try before wiping the drive! Best of Luck!
Brit_Doggie
As a pointer before deleting trojans make sure system restore is off otherwise they still there after deletion.
fasteddie
Try sophus virus removal tool.
dragonfly94
Superanti spyware did the job that malwarebytes and windows essential security did not. The windows one was just a waste of time as it picked up nothing at all. Will probably buy anti spy, and that's a rarity for me.
lostinisaan
Please try "SpyHunter 4." It helped me to finally get rid off various stuff that neither Kaspersky, nor Malwarebytes could even detect. P.S. There's a tool from Kaspersky to clean your machine up, called "Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool" Link: http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool?form=1 P.S. And please check if your Windows Defender is turned on and up to date. Edited March 15, 2015 by lostinisaan

The OS does not use it when it's not running.

The three most important things to do. Backup- Backup- Backup. Got my machine as fast as a race horse, all crap deleted and backed up with Acronis True Image 2014.
