The OP also states the village is good. My similar experience lasted six months until they shut their casino down. It's likely the OP and his wife are not the only ones unnerved by this bar/casino. I'd suggest the OP be patient and set his wife talking (softly, softly) to other neighbours in the village to find out who is connected to who, and the best course of action. It doesn't need to get nasty as they never need to know who had them shut down. It will definitely take patience though. It's a village, I doubt the "authorities" even know it exists. Because the RTP are paid a pittance, and use such means to supplement their income. Legal casinos pay 30-40% of revenues to the government. It is highly doubtful the local flat foots do not know what is going on. Time to move. It is Thailand. Everybody needs to move every few years. You are fortunate in that you rent the property and not own it, imagine the hassle of having to stay put until you found a buyer. Even if you find a way to make the entire mess stop I doubt the Thais could find a way to overcome their primitive urges of retribution - it's the way they are but you already know that. It's time to move. Sure, owning would be painfull ! however, i would fight for my right, a right i dont have now, as i dont own :-) however, i wouldent be able to own house or land anyway, so it would be my wife, and she is thai, so she have as much as should have said as they do. Either they don't live here or have a death wish. If these people are making money there is no way they will close it down. I guarantee the local head honchoes know it's going on, and if it has their support your stuffed. Thais do not react well to confrontation and will go from calm to ballistic very quickly. If you befreind them you might have a slim chance of getting them to turn things down a bit, but it sounds like it's time to move on or learn to play Thai gambling games! What does she say about your situation ? You have had some well intentioned responses as well as the usual TV BS but your situation can only be resolved by Thais. There is a restaurant approx 400 mtrs south from the Tide Hotel (never remember the name) where a lot of Scandanavians drink / eat. Khun Nui is the owner and speaks excellent english - stop in and have a chat and ask him for his opinion, he has helped me a lot in the past. The pier area and along the beach is very noisy. You could try but the will probably send you to the tourist police at the information center on beach road. The bull is they want your name and a copy of your passport. You could call your land lord and tell him you are breaking the lease because of the problem and maybe call him at 2 am when it is noisy. I cycle everyday between 30 to 40km which is a great way to get a feel for an area and to house hunt, you could do the same on a scooter... I found the place I live in now this way.. I road by it a lot and the for rent and for sale sign was there for 6 months or more ...I had a drop in monthly income and I knew by then this place was quite and being a townhouse would be cheaper .. They wanted 9k baht per month ...I offered 7k with 6 months paid in advance, they countered with 7.5 and the deal was done... 2 bdrms.. 2 baths.. 2 floors.. Corner unit with a yard and off street parking for two cars ... Pretty happy plus saving 4500 baht per month compared to the 2 bdrms house... Cheers, BB Well i think there are not that many options really 1, its not permanent what is going on, We stay 2, it will not change, we need to leave, 3, we ignore it and live grumpy :-) My wife have commented to me herself, that she dont like they pee 4 meters from our gate, also she cant park her car in the evening, they are noisy ect ect. but you know, some thais, are not the first to hammer the drums, they complain behind closed doors, and smile for open doors. i send her inthere today, but didnt get any clear answers, so i will give it 2 more weeks, see if they understand what she said, that we would move if they didnt turn down the show, Personally i dont mind they have guests, ofcourse, just they keep it abit less commercial, J Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Good luck Sure and that is exactly how we found the house we live in, we are the first to move in, build in 2010 or 2011 we pay 6000 130sqm 3 bedroom 2 floor , 2 spaces for car. Good luck we live her for 5y its not a general problem at all, its just our neighbour, that have closed their small bar and taken the customers home...... our landlord cant do much, and if he was going to talk with the neighbours, that would just make the relastionship into....nothing. we better handle it ourselfs, and choose what to do by our selfs, but i hear you ! Look at the Aussie in Phuket up on murder charges - he wouldn't have been in his situation if he hadn't tried filming what appeared to be an illegal act. You never know what will happen with the building in which you purchase a condo, or the neighborhood in which you purchase a home. Rent in Thailand is cheap. You have the flexibility to move at any time for any reason. You get to explore new parts of the city or the country when you move. You get to meet new neighbors. You discover more. When I hear expats talk about the investment merits of purchasing a home here, I cringe. You have but one choice -- move. i somehow agree also, rent is much better for me, however, i would like to build a house with high walls :-) we have kids, and i would not be too worried, because i can leave it to them However, as with so many other things, i wouldent invest in more than i could afford to loose !
