Petition to PM on Narong
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- Supporters of sidelined Public Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr Narong Sahametapat will petition the prime minister this week to inform him in writing about the problems in the ministry, a leader of the group said yesterday.

Dr Prachumporn Booncharoen, an adviser to the Federation of Centre and General Hospitals and a representative of the public health community, said that representatives from the community would go to Government House to submit their letter to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

She said the public health personnel would gather peacefully and that their gathering would not be of a political nature.

"The public health community just calls for changes and reform of the public health system. We don't want to create unrest or oppose the government," Prachumporn said.

She also stressed that the group was against the order to move Narong to an inactive post at the Prime Minister's Office

When Narong was a thorn in Yingluck's regime with his persistent anti-government attitude, many anti-Yingluck people like the PDRC cheered him on. Now he has become a thorn in Prayut's regime by pitting junta-government elements against each other with unrestrained publicity.

Prayut has shown himself to be very sympathetic and lenient with anti-Yingluck supporters who continue with political agendas. But Narong appears to press the limits of even Prayut's patience if only to keep public his conflicts. That is a dearth to Prayut's sense of reform and reconciliation. And guess what Narong? There is no appeal to Prayut's decisions, unlike under the Yingluck regime.
