Wat dee
My question is why the guy tried to run the checkpoint in the first place? That in no ways condones the cops shooting him, but if he was legal, and there's no mention of drugs or guns on him, why try to run through the checkpoint? That part doesn't make sense to me. I bet You're American? Just love the way U don't approve killing someone BUT... Here's funny video about different ways to do the job.
EyesWideOpen
Interesting story....I have been riding in Thailand for 14 years. I treat police checkpoints roughly the same as a pack of robbers waving at me to stop by the roadside so they can rob me. Meaning I generally slow down, nod my head as they are all flagging me to a stop so they can figure out how to get money from me, and then speed up and keep going. Have done this countless times . The police do not really seem to mind, as they just stop a new guy in 10 seconds and get money from him. But I guess if the new police strategy is to shoot people off of their bikes, I may have to stop and let them figure out why I owe them 300 baht. Pay it and then smile... Love this police backpedaling on whether they shot this guy . Bet they are pissed off at the pathologist who said the head wound was a bullet... berybert
The cop who pulled the trigger is going to face manslaughter charges. He was allegedly involved in a DUI car crash a while ago. Probably so drunk he couldn't fire straight and hit the guy.

Strangebrew, as others have already pointed out your own iniquities regarding your post, I'll refrain. However, to you and others who often complain about this, I will say that the articles are one of two things. A) Translated. Meaning that as with any translation, you get the translator's interpretation of the original document. If they are "unfortunate" enough to only have English as a second language, there may be some mistakes with grammatical accuracy. Written by non native English speakers who are simply doing their best with the level of education they have received. Either way, there IS an alternative available to you. Learn to read Thai. That way you can read the articles in their original form as written by Thai native speakers. If you do decide to take this option, please translate and post the articles for us to read with your perfect grammar and spelling.
BuckBee
RTP needing shooting in the head, biggest problem in thailand is the mafia police & general inability to handle basic crime in a proper manner.
rametindallas
whats the chance of cop getting his gun out, and shooting with that accuracy before the moving bike was out of range? be interesting if that rally gathers momentum ! Maybe you forgot Chalerm's cop-killer son is teaching marksmanship to the police now. The policeman may have shot him at point-blank range as he went through their checkpoint. An autopsy should clear up a lot of lying and cover-up.
rametindallas
@strangebrew. Before you go Thai bashing why don't you have a quick glance at your own post. Hint: doesn't, Had,they're. To add Idiablo, Thais and not Thai's. Yes never mind the police covering up the fact they shot someone. Lets have a go at someones spelling. Or is it someone's, its the little things that are important. Leave the murdering police alone and learn how to spell. Plenty of posters here are capable of doing BOTH. pitchag
Reminds me of the alleged communique to Victorian police some years ago - "Warning shots should go over heads, not through them." Australian police are not allowed to fire warning shots, they are trained to shoot centre mass (middle of chest) with expanding projectiles to minimise the the projectile going through the body and hitting a bystander the same reason not to fire a warning shot even in the air could still result in the death of an innocent member of the public
