Are you listening Prayut!!!

This is where you should be focusing your efforts -- toward YOUR people. Provide universal power NOW, provide universal garbage pickup NOW, provide better and more roads NOW! Go out into the villages and farms of Thailand and find out what YOUR people need and then do everything in your power to provide it.

This is what a government is supposed to be doing with the tax money they collect...making the lives of all citizens better day by day by providing the infrastructure they need.

The government is supposed to be doing what the constitution enumerates and only that. Ooooops!

The problem with this solar in the home project (which featured in a woman getting an award for it that was reported on ThaiVisa) is that no allowance was made for maintainance. Also the important batteries supplies were standard wet cell auto batteries and we all know how long these last) Solar power needs a special type of battery as it has specific needs.

Well I think car batteries would work OK, if you keep the loaded, there is a special electronic to protect them.

But if no one told him......

But beside that, with broken battery he would have electric during the day, enough to load the LED lamps. Also he can take old car batteries from the shop for free. Some only loose power after a couple of days, but will support a few hours in the night. Might be even possible to cut the batteries open and jump the broken cells, if you have no money, but a lot free time.

No money and lots of free time is not enough. You need the knowledge and have brain engaged.

the knowledge you can get even with a slow brain, if you have 30 years time.

I think the govt is more concerned about getting broadband internet throughout Thailand before electricity throughout Thailand.

I can hardly wait for Costas' reply to your post...

That is exactly what they did in our small isolated village. They came around and surveyed all the small villages and then acted on the results. They also explained the generals plans and goals. Very professional and timely. Converted this red village to their side and did what they said they would do. They still come around periodically and ask how things are and what else is needed.

A small gasoline generator costs NEW 10.000 Baht and needs only very little gasoline.

If go with a two stroke diesel instead, you can feed it with all kind of oil, palm oil, old oil from cooking, etc.

I saw low tech solar panel solutions in Koh Lipe: Working

I everywhere see small gasoline generators: Working

What makes you think he's got 10,000 baht to spare?

The fact, that he hasn't paid electricity bills for 30 years.....................coffee1.gif

Nahhhh...those money would have paid for fuel. But probably the amount thrown into the lottery for 30 years could have paid for three generators.

If (I) can't make a baht, (I) don't give a flying <deleted> about K. Rungruangmand his family (or anyone else for that matter) unless

it puts money in my own pocket. So sorry if you ain't got any money. 2015 means nothing if you are poor!!

You mean deep cycle batteries. They can be either wet cell or gel batteries.

A lot of people have used regular truck batteries successfully but you need to look at the load that will be on the system.

If the local Politician spends his budget on power poles how can he afford to buy his new Mercedes??? w00t.gif

If one corrupt Thai politician was sent to jail for LIFE or get the "bullet" like "the motherland/China" I suspect things would change. But in LOS = lack of sanctions.... same same every day/decade. When will the Thai population wake up?

In the USA if you are the only possible customer far from the end of the electricity line, YOU pay for the wire to be run to your house. Electricity is not a god given right, it costs money.

Broken generator........... I have in my home a DVD player in my room and provided the identical DVD player to the family room, Thai extended family. Mine still works great; Thai one has been broken so many times it is now beyond repair. Why is that?

I have a pliers that is FIFTY-FIVE YEARS OLD and I still use it often; the new pliers I gave the Thai family last month is now LONG GONE. Why is that?

I say, Why is that? quoting Andy Rooney.

Oh how I can relate. Honestly.... I think Thais - generally - do not know how to take care of anything. I'm baffled.... why is this? No parental guidance or social norms? Or maybe Thais don't really care about anything. ?????
