March 22, 201511 yr Just wondering if anyone has seen any Kingsford Charcoal Briquets available recently - Specifically the competition briquets? Truevalue on Suk used to carry them but have been out of stock for awhile. Thanks
March 22, 201511 yr I have seen the original only at Foodland and Foodmart. Truevalue has been out of stock for quite sometime.
March 22, 201511 yr What are competition Briquets? I saw Kingsford at a Homepro. The kind that lights without fluid or starter.
March 24, 201511 yr If you can't find Kingsford Charcoal, you might enjoy trying the local version of it. You can buy a small bag of charcoal and many local markets, for about 20 baht. Not perfect, but they burn well and do the job!
March 24, 201511 yr Author Thanks for the help - will trawl the shops mentioned to see if I can find them. Competition briquets are different from most (including the original Kingsford briquet) as they don't have any chemicals/ingredient to help light off that are harmful. The worst thing they have is a touch of lime stone in them to regulate the burn. I have tried many local versions to date but have a lingering concern - Who knows where the wood has been sourced from and what is in it (wood treated with insecticides ect) ? I have found nails + bit and pieces of other things in the ashes after burning the local charcoal.
