The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A RUSSIAN and three Iranians have been arrested along with 496.52 grams of crystal meth worth Bt1.5 million in Bang Lamung district in Chon Buri and Phaya Thai in Bangkok, the Police Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) announced yesterday.

At a press conference, deputy commander Pol Col Chairoj Chaiya said that following the arrest of Russian Anton Petrovskiy, 45, with 0.7 gm of "ice" in Bang Lamung's Tambon Nong Preu on March 19, police arrested his Iranian supplier Akbar Mohamadi, 45, the next day with 8.32 grams of "ice" and a digital scale in Tambon Nong Preu.

On the weekend, two more Iranians were arrested - Asghar Keshavarz Afshar, 38, with 102 grams of "ice" in Tambon Na Kleu on Saturday, then Abolfazl Vakili, 41, at a Bangkok house, where he stayed for 10 years with his Thai wife, along with 385.5 grams of "ice" and a digital scale on Sunday.

NSB chief Pol Maj-General Supakit Srijantaranon said these foreigners allegedly operated in the same drug network that preys on foreign residents or tourists. The four were charged with possessing illicit drugs with intent to sell.

Meanwhile, Chon Buri police chief Pol Maj-General Nitipol Niamnoi yesterday announced that three other Russian tourists and two Thais were arrested along with 17 kilograms of marijuana in Bang Lamung district.

In February, customs officials found 10kg of marijuana in packages posted to Russia, sent from Pattaya, Jomtien and Map Ta Phut post offices. Police later arrested Georgy Nyushkov, 28, Alelsei Druzhinin, 30, and Aleksei Samokhin, 26, and their alleged suppliers Kaewjai Thumaporn, 43, and Kanokphrom Wongsin, 28. The first two men were charged with possessing and attempting to import marijuana, while Samokhin faces a charge of possession.

In Iran they hang drug dealers from a construction crane, and in Russia they throw their ass in jail

not to see daylight for many years...

only in sunny Thailand they allow themselves to soak the sun and deal in drugs..

what a wonderful country it is....

Just how do the Police estimate the value of drugs. Just under 600 grams worth 1.5 million? I confess ignorance concerning the trade in amphetamines and the like. What is the price of a yaba pill or is it sold by weight. Just curious.

My method is better. It is effective, cheap and long lasting in its effects. People caught with drugs should be made to swallow, inject whatever it is they do with them all in one go. If they survive then they are free and can go home. But if they dont...........

The first two men were charged with possessing and attempting to import marijuana?????????????????????? Is that in addition to the obvious pending charges of attempting to EXPORT weed? If so we missed that chapter out somewhere Otherwise and if it were not "Thai grown weed," it would appear that the "attempts to import' were clearly successfully completed to that stage and should perhaps be amended to "illegally imported class ? drugs........."

The firing squad is a waste of good bullets for these scumbags.....hang em, the rope can be re-used again and again!

That the drug problem can't be solved that way is well known....taking out a few dealer only increases the profit for the remaining one.

The only way is to take out the money, but no one is doing that and Thailand wouldn't be the only country where police and politics have their hands in the trade.

Do you all know that prostitution is illegal??

SO lets round you all up, put in jail and trow away the key...

You all play judges , jury and executer on TV, behind your computer and commit crimes on a dayly/weekly base yourselfs...

Yeah, supplying something people want, its terrible. Not saying its a good thing but there are far more worse offenders. These people only want to make money, their intent is not to hurt any one.

biggrin.png I like your idea! Especially for the marijuana.... A joint of 17 kg weed must be a world record, and very very long and fat.... Probably takes years and years to smoke this little spliff cheesy.gif

However, the guy who has to smoke it, probably will NEVER have another joint in his life again (if he has not died before of long cancer or so) tongue.png
