The April 'run' takes place on the first Saturday of April, which is next Saturday, 4th April. Meet up at N-Joy Bar at 3pm or at the run site in the Forest north of Ubon Ring Road between Amnat and Yasothon roads at 3:30pm. April, being the hottest month of the year, your hare has selected a run that is mostly in continual shade!

You won't be anywhere cooler than this (outside) around Ubon next Saturday.

Directions to the run site are:
Coming North up the Amnat Charoen Road (Highway 212) from its intersection with Ubon Ring Road you will come past the very large Toyota dealer on the right, then a PTT on the left then a Mazda dealer on the left. The Mazda delaer is about 3.6 km from the Ring Road. At the Mazda dealer you will see a gigantic 'OPSI' sign in front of you. Turn left immediately after that sign (15 metres). Drive straight along this country road due west for 3.5km (mix of blacktop and concrete with a few rough patches!). You will pass a soi with a resort, a couple of expensive modern houses at an S-bend and a large metal roofed builder's merchant shed with office curiously referenced to 'Home Hub'. After 3.5km you will see a prominent name board for 'Ubol Ratchatani SIL Viticultural Research Station on your left - it's very obvious. Park up here.

Usual format. Beer stop, circle at the run site, more beers after (maybe stop at U-Park on the way back to N-Joy?) and beyond for those wishing to make an evening of it! Look forward to seeing you next Saturday.

CAUTION - driving to N-Joy bar from the ring road at Central Plaza is no longer possible due to a long term reconstruction of the bridge over the Mun diversion. Please see the attached map for alternatives: basically you either come along Palochai Road from the centre of town (past Ubon Prison) or you head down Thanon Chonprathon Tabo from the Ring Road past the western end of Huai Meuang and across the lights at Tha Chonprathon Tabo's junction with Sapphasit Road (West), continuing down to Palochai road at its extreme western end and turning left.

Hashing is social running and there have been hash clubs all over the world since its 1930s origins in Kuala Lumpur. The running bit is not taken seriously and beer is drunk to oil the social side. Ubon Hash, in line with the Ubon environment is laid back and only a few experienced hashers and wanabee enthusiasts put in a few spurts of running. The rest walk. Non-running social members who like to drink beer rather than take any exercise are welcome provided they pay the hash fee and don't drink all the beer while the rest of us are out on trail!

A trail is laid, typically in white powder like flower/chalk and the pack has to find the trail, which keeps the front runners busy while the walkers catch up. After the run the beer ice-boxes are opened and the socialising begins. We usually go back for some more beer and maybe some food around town in the early evening, and some more beer later in the evening, but that is entirely optional on your part!

Don't be a stay at home wuss - get out there with us and discover the sides of Ubon you would not normally uncover. It's dead cheap (100B) for your first run and inexpensive (250B) thereafter; even cheaper for Thais and under-17's - and that includes free beer after, and often during, the run
