As there are so many people speculation the wife must have pushed him which can be considered. But than again, us foreigners are often 20kg up more heavy and lots stronger.

Now I luckily never been in a physical confrontation with my missus or any Thai lady (or man for that matter) but I am 100% sure that my missus could never trow me over our condo balcony, even if she gave it all.

So the pushing seems quite odd to me too. I do also not believe there are so many real jumpers here but I ain't a policeman to find that out.

I think the thai building authorities are going to have to seriously consider putting trampolines around condo buildings, especially when the people jumping are doing it because of financial difficulties. I call this bullshit also. pills are a much easier and less messy way of topping yourself. young thai wife? financial difficulties? I think I know why he was in financial difficulties if that is the case. RIP mate

If this keeps up, no farang will want to buy an condo above the 4th

floor.... Always mystified by these suicides. Farangs in their home

countries almost never commit suicide by jumping off of buildings.

Why do they do it here ? Something is not right.

" Preecha said the Australian might have financial difficulty...."

This is the classic police way to explain away these endless

suicides. How in god's name would a policeman who just

showed up on the scene know what financial position the guy

was in ?? I call b********t.

Foreigners’ suicides by jumping from condominiums could be assisted suicide, go stand by balcony, look out at city, relax, soon, I will come out and assist you.

I've told my wife too many foreigners are dying by suppose suicides and I should I die a violent death or suicide in Thailand, it will not be a finical gain.

They had a piece on ABC News 24 in Australia and didn't say much, apparently he was a Director of Macquarie Marketing Group in Sydney, a large well established firm and he also ran a Marketing company in Bangkok. Spent time between both locations.

Probably not short of a dollar.

Condolences to family and friends.

Always instant speculation in Thailand about deaths (and many other "issues") before the facts are ascertained. It seems some authoritative figures just love the publicity coffee1.gif

No disrespect for the man..., it's always sad to hear about these events. But I always bristle over the "leaper" post comments from members. Why does this event, irrespective of the "5 W's & 1 H", seem to get everyone's motors running?

One of three things happened..., he jumped of his own volition (suicide)...., he was pushed over (homicide)..., he accidentally fell from a balcony not railed high enough (accident).

Too young and too sad, no matter what the cause.

It beggars believe that so many westerners leap off buildings in pattaya and bangkok.....is it a coincidence that in nearly every occasion said man has been arguing with his tilak!....i dont believe in coincidences...do you?

As another poster said " we never hear of this happening back home",so why here!

I recommend every disturbed western man in a dodgy relationship come to Koh Samui where buildings are only permitted to be built 3 story's high.

There could be a downside though as hit man are regularly purchased for as little as 10,000 baht to get rid of someone.

I hear it often:

Foreigner dies under misterious circumstances.

Now I only say half what I really want to say, but can't.

After reading these stories year after year, I am just not buying it. If a police investigation

turned up the fact he was swamped in debt, and the mafia had a contract oh him,

then maybe I would believe it. But when every story like this has the grieving Thai

wife saying to the police " I tink him money poblem too mutt at home contry" , I just stopped

believing it. I still say this is the perfect crime. You hear a knock on the door, answer it,

6 Thai guys rush and pitch you over the balcony, then leave. Then all your assets go

to the grieving widow.... Any individual case is almost impossible to prove, but some guy

did a study of all the suicides here , and basically said it was mathmatically impossible

for them all to be real. Meaning if the normal suicide rate was 1 % at farang home countries,

and it was 30 % here, clearly something is wrong......

For every case like this , I would love to see the Thai police do a six month follow up investigation

into the finances of the grieving widow and her new Thai boyfriend.

I don't get the suicide angle. Even if lifes a bit tough Westerners don't usually jump off a building when they are depressed. Maybe it was a Kevorkian jump?

why not ? some even crash a plane when depressed. biggrin.png

i must admit it can get to you, while living in the uk i had a very stressful job, and my partner became a control freak, row me morning noon and night, for the most stupid things, (not putting loo seat down at 2 am in the morning she gets up and checks he he) etc etc.it was getting me down, so one day i handed her a letter (30 days get out) never been happier, lol, as to ending it all . i have always said car/exhaust is the way to go, my sister says "you can't do that, you go black" as if i would care, (before any clowns chime in she meant i would not be a pretty sight) ok i stop there lol. (why has one got to quantify a sentence in this day and age ?)

I don't think in the West jumping from high rises is such a common suicide method. Why does it happen so often here, maybe copycat behavior caused by publicity about these cases?

In the UK statistics for males for 2012. 60% was hanging/suffocation, 20% poison & 20% others. Therefore highly unlikely that that most of these high rise deaths are all suicides. With the ease you can get prescription drugs & alcohol, a jump off a building seems remote

Add to that the fact that a lot Thais think it is ok to scam/kill foreigners & you have a lot of suspicious deaths!

You are not accounting for bias in reporting and perception, suicide by jumping off a building and falling on the street makes more, pardon the pun, of a splash than someone ending it all in private.

To me that sounds like a CV for a dubious "Financial Advisor" aka snake oil-merchant!!

Why did this highly successful need to teach tennis, when in Thailand??

Oh ! east meets west

Most westerners are cut off from reality when in LOS.

They chase something which isn't REAL. Even after realising, they keep chasing.

Could they do thesame in the west ?

Are they just naive ? Or the emotional feelings towards their partners outpowers their ability to basic thinking ?

I also don't believe this is normal in other countries and the common denominator in all this seems to be a ....... It appears from the statistics that the odds of you dying an unnatural death in Thailand while in a relationship with a local is pretty high. Either from an assisted leg over the balcony or from emotional abuse/stress created by the other half! Why are there no women throwing themselves off these buildings or local men? The answer to this seems to reinforce the first assumption I made. It seems statistically that your chances of surviving in Thailand goes up immensely if you:

Don't marry a local

Don't have a live-in GF

Preecha said police ... will further question the wife after she gets over her grief to determine the motive.

Yes, of course, wait as long as she would like you to. Don't even think of interviewing her now.

normal police procedure is to interview all witnesses etc immediately, well in Australia it is anyway. Further statements can then be taken later if required.

They haven't conducted interviews, viewed CCTV footage or made inquiries about his business be it in Australia or Thailand but release a statement saying business failure and probably suicide. Proffessional police would say something along the lines of, the investigation is on going and we can't speculate on the reasons or cause of death.

Com'on Chooka mate, you know these clowns are nothing like real policemen. More like the poorly trained, poorly paid, poorly led type to be found in lots of third world countries where money, connections and family are justice and law enforcement seen as income for the boys.

Occasionally there are reports of some good police work, and I know several police I would consider professional. But the majority - more interested in where the next booze and food is coming from than doing anything.

Jump to the easiest conclusion that requires the least amount of work possible. Duty - what's that, some kind of customs tax?

Too many jumpers in Thailand. Often a wife involved. Financial problems? Like a greedy wife? She got angry and pushed him over?

R.I.P.

An excellent point, i recall few suicides of unmarried men. Does that tell us something about marriage in general, or just marriage to Thai women?
