I know a lot of people who coach various sports, they don't get paid for it they just love the sport and enjoy being involved in the community. You don't have to be down and out to give a little of your time to others.
andygunther
If this keeps up, no farang will want to buy an condo above the 4th floor.... Always mystified by these suicides. Farangs in their home countries almost never commit suicide by jumping off of buildings. Why do they do it here ? Something is not right. " Preecha said the Australian might have financial difficulty...." This is the classic police way to explain away these endless suicides. How in god's name would a policeman who just showed up on the scene know what financial position the guy was in ?? I call b********t. I also have my doubts in all these suicides, but believe police makes it easy for themselves .... Suicide = Case closed
gerry123
I don't get the suicide angle. Even if lifes a bit tough Westerners don't usually jump off a building when they are depressed. Neeranam
What the hell is going on with these guys? Even if his wife is involved how you can choose to live with someone who can kill you? I mean there have to be signs if your partner intends to kill you right? Like always complaining about you especially about money and that you are a cheap charlie or something....so make you depressed and so on and then maybe use the right moment and make you jump or push you whatever... Anyway it is always sad to hear these things. RIP. We urgently need some kind of group meetings for depressed westeners who live in this country who can't talk to no one about their problems... reading online does only make you more deperessed because you will only find more bad stories... Any woman who knows the words "Cheap Charlie" I would suspect as these words are mostly by Thai prostitutes. I have had 2 wealthy friends die at the hands of ex-working girls and there's absolutely nothing I could have done about it. Accidents - my arse. Daniel Ingalls
Damn........Its not a Stock Market crash just yet! But when it does happen, be prepared for multiple suicidal jumps! With drugs so wide spread, why do they continue to take the messy route? I myself would rather take a dozen or so sleeping pills, and dose it down with a few bottles of good imported beer. And if love ones are involved taking care of your remains, What better way to show your love, by a nice body in a permanent sleep mode. Do you realize what a 10 floor or more jump would look like below? Do you realize what a mess it is? I feel sorry for the emergency crew that has to hose the area down before the blood and guts attract flies. My gut feeling is most of these suicides deal with and unfaithful wife or girl friend, that wipe out his savings, has the car, the apartment paid for, and maybe even holder of his life insurance policy. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER A WOMAN HAS IN THAILAND. The Thai government has made it clear, Farlung, go ahead and marry a Thai girl, we will insure she will be taken care of. Splurge and buy that house, put her name on your Bank account, buy that car in her name. Then when you die, everything is hers and her new boy friend! What goes on in Thailand, Stays in Thailand. bartobar
Why are you so naive about emotional issues ? A lady musn't be a schwarzennegger in order to do a thing like that What you have to learn is th. missus are very good PLANNERS. believe me or not. 12 years in LOS has taught me many lessons As there are so many people speculation the wife must have pushed him which can be considered. But than again, us foreigners are often 20kg up more heavy and lots stronger. Now I luckily never been in a physical confrontation with my missus or any Thai lady (or man for that matter) but I am 100% sure that my missus could never trow me over our condo balcony, even if she gave it all. So the pushing seems quite odd to me too. I do also not believe there are so many real jumpers here but I ain't a policeman to find that out. MiKT
Be thankful you are not in oh so loverly Singy, where jumping off high rise buildings whilst being pursued by the Bill is not uncommon (it keeps the arrest statistics down). At least here they need paying in hard cash before they will give you a boost! How can there be so much crap about suicide statistics in Thailand posted without anybody knowing what they actually are for Thailand or anywhere else, how about Syria, or Spain or Greece for instance, must be bad at the moment one can speculate? And so much unhealthy crap about suicides in general. Its a sad, sad world and given the unhealthy mental level and anti-Thai inclinations of some TV posters it is only surprising there are not more suicides here. Bugger, I see someone posted whilst I was typing. Ok I take back that statistical bit, but not the rest. But how many are Thai lady's with farang husbands I wonder? Tony125
A study really needs to be done on how many deaths occur from falling off balconies or jumping off roofs in Thailand. I lived in USA most of my life and only saw a few deaths around the country from falling off balconies ----Thailand has wayyyyyyy too many. For most Thai women, throwing or pushing a fully grown falang male off a balcony would be a difficult proposition. Some attempts might succeed of course, particularly with the element of surprise, but it's impossible to deny that many would not. We can therefore say that if a significant percentage of these suicides really are murders, large numbers of failed attempts using similar methods must have also taken place. Have they? slipperylobster
Give the guy some respect. - "young Thai wife" her age and what he was wearing are not important. All angles should be looked at. If this was a complete surprise to his wife...perhaps she will later confirm that the man was broke and depressed. Most people can handle the loss of a job....and not immediately choose suicide just two weeks after discovering he needed more income. No need to publish all this, agreed...but sorting it all out would require at least some kind of scrutiny. Relationships, finances, medical status, insurance, prior attempts, even drugs/alcohol. It all needs to be looked at. Edited March 30, 2015 by slipperylobster

I am not saying this happened for this particular incident...but I suppose there may have been others that were staged. When you think about it....not very hard to do. Docno
Too many jumpers in Thailand. Often a wife involved. Financial problems? Like a greedy wife? She got angry and pushed him over? R.I.P. Impressive. Those diminutive Thai ladies being able to launch their oversized farang partners over balconies. My Thai gf couldn't budge me if she took a run at it, and I'm nowhere near as big as many of the westerners walking about LOS.
