I might not like Thai cops but killing one for doing his job I hope the police catch the scumbag son of local politician and kill him as he tries to escape. then case closed if his father protest's hope he has unfortunate accident or dies of suicide out of grief or accidental fall off balcony as is normal here. RIP Officers.

May we have the name of the local politician? Or do the journos lack of balls?

I know that the politician cannot be responsible for the actions of his son but this shows how the system of casts is working here. If you are from the elite (and even PT, a politician is from the elite), the members of your family can do anything. The proof => all the people (even the useless journos) know who is the mastermind and this guy is still running... his business.

The parent is a politician, he has to be guilty of something worth arresting him for!

He is a Thai politician. What more guilt needs to be proven?

........Police said the narcotic gang led by the son of a local politician was responsible as he might take revenge on the narcotic suppression team for making frequent arrest and seizure of his drugs....

....when will this cancer ever be removed....

....so bluntly and plainly stated.....

...so it is not bias or prejudice on foreigners' parts when they 'guess' as much in so many crimes....

...the police themselves 'tell it like it is'.....

Condolences to the families and friends of the police killed or injured.

On a less serious note, I do love a couple of funny comments from some posters.

Thai PBS needs to employ a few competent native English speaking sub editors. But I believe such people are in short supply in this part of the world, and anyway, PBS does not seem to be terribly well equipped to find them and keep them. So not much you can do about it - grin it and bare it .... ummm.

If I were the boss of the police in that are, I would go anti vigil on anyone connected to the drug

business there and make 100 drug dealers pay the ultimate price for my 2 fallen cops,

if they want war... war they shall get....

This is too bad for the cops. But it has been brought on them from the government. There has been only one PM that took care of these scum drug dealers and he is not in Thailand anymore.

I hope they get justice for their fallen comrades,

The Police in other countries would not rest until the guilty are charged.

more like permanently removed from the planet in some countries and usually no great loss.

The scum bag you are referring to may have taken care of a couple of drug dealers along with the removal of many other "thorns-in-the-side" of his corrupt underlings along with quite a few innocent people. So before shooting mouth off and praising a convicted fugitive criminal - get a few facts on the actual deaths related to the action of your hero.

I am sure that in this case the RTP will act. I hope that they take them alive because it is the people at the top that need to be identified, tried and jailed. No doubt we will shave some posts that will try and use any little bruise ... as a means of attacking the police and the government in pathetic attempts to discredit the government.

It sounds that in this area the RTP were actually doing their job and for the officers to pay the price with their lives means that we should respect them for that and feel for the families that have lost their loved ones.

RIP

Agreed: Always very easy to run the police down and in many cases it is well justified - but in this case as you so well pointed out, seems they were actually trying to do the right thing. Guess we need to remember, many of the police are just ordinary Thai's having to deal with many low life's in a poorly paid job.

Except he didn't.

He just demanded quotas and the extra judicial murders of users, petty ex dealers/ex addicts or just a convenient victim made up the majority of the victims of the war on drugs butchery.

Don't get me wrong. I hope that those behind these murders get what they deserve, but that does not justify state sanctioned extra judicial murders.

Of the innocent or the guilty.

Unfortunately defamation laws make it quite difficult to accuse hisos and the rich of anything. So law enforcement becomes difficult trying to indict the rich and powerful.

In oz the police arrest (alleged) criminals, not their parents.

I must have to reread. This isn't about Oz.. We don't know what its about. Just another newspaper story. eat it up.

It can also be difficult for the police to arrest themselves... even if they know who is responsible.
