I was waiting for someone to bring up the issue of Keith, his motorbike accident and the latest’s news. Pompey Nick posted about a fundraiser held at Sportsman’s... And now the post has completely been erased.

Has this post been removed by the tiresome and boring, bleeding heart mods?

Or am I blindly drunk and cant find the post?

Prey tells?

If it did disappear then it may have fell under this rule:

"8) It is not acceptable to solicit for, nor accept donations, gifts, etc for providing advice to visitors and members of the thaivisa.com forums, nor is it permitted to steer, promote or solicit persons to go to locations or businesses in which it is necessary to pay for services or assistance."

And with comments like that this one will also probably 'disappear'.

Tywais - Yep, understand the rules... Actually the rules here are often adhered to far too precisely. I actually had a slight dig at said OP once for self promotion, however it was posted in jest (though it may have not sounded jestfull). Nicks post did not mention PFC, his email, phone number - so this board ruling is non applicable.

Check myself for that - ' Board ruling'... Jesus, this is just a frigging web forum. I now I find myself talking like SBK.

Britmaverik - I guessed that may have been the problem... But who cares if PompeyNick and KJ had a few harsh words to say? Would anyone on this board honestly suffer with reading a few (mildly) exchanged harsh words? This is a forum, isn’t it? To each his own - kinda like the digital equivalent of chatting in the local, or leaning over the garden fence and chewing the fat with a neighbor... It would be most annoying in this context for some ‘only me!' type person to jump in and stop the conversation, wouldn’t it?

All too often I see certain mods elect themselves as magistrates in other people’s conversations, as apposed to moderators of the forum. All too often I see a mod jump in when all else thought the thread to be harmless - did anyone else in the previous deleted thread object to the content? I doubt it... more than likely just a bored mod wielding the on line equivalent of a 'head boy/girl' badge, much like the twits at my school many years ago.

I’m ranting - and I apologise for that... its just that the thread as a theme was something I wanted to see develop - however the usual jobs-worth do-gooders decided it would be a good idea to close a thread about a guy in desperate need for help because... well, because they could.

Boo - Fair enough. I am wrong in presuming that mods closed the thread.

My point remains though. I presumed for a reason... based on previous threads that have been policed so heavily.

I'll second that on this sub-topic, only. Others get away with murder, check out the ones on General Topics and others. Makes this one look sucpitiously clean.

Again, it would seem I had a pop at the mods for no reason. But, as I said the rant was borne out of frustration... JMHO, but this forum gets so bloody boring at times - the closest we came to a little controversy recently was a sleep inducing post about honeymoons at a lamia resort, when an alleged disgruntled previous employee used a proxie anon to slag off the resort.

I would guess that in another forum, Nick may not have requested to close the thread so quickly... knowing however that engaging in a little toe to toe with KJ would surely have encouraged some mod who may have been a ticket inspector in a previous life to close the thread, he probably thought his attempt at a melee would be wasted, so threw the towel in.

Sorry, ranting again. I won’t be posting in the KS forum again, quite frankly it bores the tits outa me.

Sorry, I do stress JMHO.

Batty, as you mentioned, it's like having a banter at your local. But even at your local, more often a problem is resolved by a quite chat at a table away from the main bar convo.

Translate that to, when it gets personal, mayhap the two punters should find a private table, or PM exchange.

Try to clarify things. If it ends in a punch up, Boo brings down her apparel!

The op requested the topic to be removed so get off your soap box battybatty.

I binned it for exactly that reason Boo ... but only after conferring with two mods who were following the topic.

OP requested that the thread be closed because certain inflammatory remarks by certain posters upset the family of the injured person. Is that good enough for you or do you need to continue discussing moderation issues here?

If you have an issue with the moderation of this or any forum please feel free to bring it up with admin but until then discussion of moderation issues is against forum rules, rules set up by admin, not the mods. So, kindly take your complaints there.
