American arrested, 2 injured, in multi-vehicle road crash in Pattaya



PATTAYA: -- A 29 year old female American car driver was detained by Pattaya Police on Sunday afternoon following a 30 minute wrecking spree which saw her damage 13 vehicles and injure 2 people.

Police were forced to open fire on her car tires to bring her vehicle to a halt and after that were forced to smash her front passenger window after she refused to leave her vehicle.

The incident began in Soi Siam Country Club in East Pattaya where Miss Amanda was involved in a road crash with another vehicle. She refused to remain at the scene of the crash and sped off in the direction of North Pattaya and then reportedly drove against the flow of traffic back to South Pattaya, along the Sukhumvit Road, causing traffic chaos on an already busy day for traffic.

For 30 minutes she was pursued by Police and caused damage to 13 vehicles and injured two motorbike driver who were forced off their bikes by the crazy driver.

I was watching the scene. Horrifying with approx 50 people (civilians, coppers and rescue-workers) shouting and yelling.

A red-plated Toyota was pretty much damaged and a copper started telling me about a one-hour chase and the driver being "mau", but that last fact may have been an assumption..

But it's a pretty neat job to ghost-drive along Sukhumvit over that length and only causing so little damage

That is a quite difficult question. You park your car after colliding with a motorbike and there lies a Thai or two in agony on the road. Police is not yet there and the angry mob starts forming around you...might not be so easy to just stand there.

I was in an accident with a truck. The driver (his fault) and offsider and myself enjoyed a great laugh and shared jokes until the insurance people arrived. Couldn't have met two nicer guys.

She is lucky,doing this in her home country ,it would have been her

I had to read the story twice as I thought my wife had driven down to Pataya while I am away working.

Thais will make a hundred yard dash in 4 seconds if there is a farang down and being kicked. I've seen it.

Obviously her relatives do not own a sports drink company otherwise she would be able to get advanced medical treatment for a common illness and escape any punishment even though you killed an innocent person whilst you were reportedly drunk and under the influence of drugs.
