CDC panel to review use of 246 ideas for charter
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The special committee monitoring and providing recommendations to the charter drafters will meet to see if the drafters have made use of any of the 246 suggestions from the National Reform Council, the committee chairman said yesterday.

Bhairote Brohmsarn said his committee - to meet from tomorrow to Thursday in Samut Songkram province - would also compare the

charter draft to the 2007 Charter.

He said even though the NRC had provided many recommendations, its suggestions are not final; it will meet again to review the charter once the Constitution Drafting Committee submits it after April 17.

Meanwhile, Borwornsak Uwanno, the Constitution Drafting Committee chief, is happy with the outcome of a public forum on the new charter held in Chiang Mai on Friday and Saturday.

It featured representatives from 17 northern provinces.

Borwornsak said all the points raised during the forum would be passed on to the committee charged with reviewing the charter draft during a 60-day period from May to July.

He said forum participants presented interesting suggestions on land reform.

The committee will meet tomorrow to look at the questions for an opinion survey on the new charter before the survey is conducted.

The chairman of the subcommittee on public participation, Thawilwadee Bureekul, presented the survey.

If the Thai Administration is so sold on the idea of something of a Thai version of the German political system,(And a Thai version it will be ) why not send these 246 idea's to them for review and endorsement. cheesy.gif

It looks like the CDC is building up all these "public forums" as a substitute for a public referendum on the draft constitution. Throw in another NIDA survey or two and the draft constitution will be declared to have support by the majority of the Thai people.

The Thai Administration is in charge, hence my wishes mean nothing, as it should be, since I'm not Thai and not in charge.

It's just cosmetics!

What they need to do is stop giving an operating cert to every fly-by-night outfi that bribes.
