I will not do the work for you but look up the case of the Russian Woman denied entry in Phuket !

Sure, and there was even one guy with and ED visa refused in Bangkok. That was at the peak of the "crackdown" against ED visa during a move that was largely publicized. Isolated cases do not change the general rule: Have a valid visa and one will enter Thailand without a problem.

If you say so paz, if you say so...

It's not "me", it's facts. Scaremongering and talking in principle doesn't help anyone.

Here for you a link to the Thai immigration act. Section 12 lists the reason why a foreigner can be denied entry. "at officer's discretion", or "for any reason" is not listed.

It also doesn't say anything remotely like, "Have a valid visa and one will enter Thailand without a problem." either. That bold assertion is entirely yours.

Getting off topic anyway.

Wow, I am glad to have started such a vibrant conversation. I do have good news, the Non-O was granted in Vientiane without a hitch.

By the way I did peruse the forum prior to going to Savannakhet, but couldn't read everything. I was given the indication that things were easy there, hense me going there.

Also, as hard as it might be to believe, it appears however that my SPECIFIC situation does not prop up much in the forum (from what I have seen, and again I havn't spent days on the forum, just hours). To review I am not married, no kids, no bank account, just affidavit, 1st application.

Thanks expecially to Joe for his recommendation. It worked out fine.

I would also like to point out it was a bit frustrating trying to follow the relevant replies on my little phone screen with all the off topic discussion. Just my opinion, and you know everyone has one.

Good follow-up and result. Maybe this Non-O visa issue needs to be added to maestro's pinned reports at the head of the forum. There's only Non-O's for spouse/dependents listed there I think.
