IMHO
Sounds about right. A 100 cu.m pool is a big installation. A lot of concrete a lot of tiling and 0.15 million baht of equipment (which is more expensive than falangland, due to import duties). Go cheap in haste, repent at leisure. There will be plenty come on here (particularly if a moderator MOVES IT TO THE SWIMMING POOL FORUM)* who will nay- say me. Find a few who have said a few years ago that they built their sizeable pool for 400k, PM them and see if they are still happy. Loads of grotty pools in Thailand inherited by house renters / s/h home buyers. Who built those? Essential you use a builder whose work you can verify by talking to their owner. * well done CharlieH you beat me to it. It switched when I pressed 'post' Just to say I built my pool using our house builders, best 4 inch thick tiles, salt, weber grouting, only 1.20 meters deep, 6 years old now still looks very good, used in our small resort 700 k including 2 meter walk around, with small pump house, he charged 200 k labour. That price means nothing w/out knowing how big it is
sappersrest
Good construction is essential and has already been mention in this topic as described by pattaya cube I have seen many pools that have been built cheaply and look absolutely fantastic .But returned 4-5 years later to see them a crumbling wreck, broken backs no tiles underground leaks, all due to being done on the cheap. Before you go to far down the line get a trail hole dug and get it inspected by a civil engineer. as said previously you may well need piles putting in. Just remember the weight of the water alone will be 100 tons then the weight of the concrete etc. If it was me I would budget on the higher figure quoted , then trim accordingly, but certainly not on the tank and the filtration system. Good luck with your project.
JAFO
My wife and I just started considering adding a pool. ~16m x ~12m. I want a 3m deep end for some diving rising up to 1.5m at the shallow end, ending with steps out of the pool. Early info shows the pool cost to be about the same as what it costs in the states for a good quality lay out. $1mil baht ($30,000 usd). Confirming what others say, do not cut corners. If you want a quality pool with years of problem free use spend the money. If you skimp you will pay more later...ALOT more. Pools anywhere in the world are a luxury hence why the costs reflect that. LannaGuy
Thats a v big pool. I am about to build a pool and had originally planned a large rectangle pool like yourself. I have since traveled around a bit and seen a few pools and re-evaluated what I want it for. I am now going for a 12 m X 2.5m lap pool @ 1.6 with an additional area 3x4 m @1.2 wit a seating area and steps at one end. I am importing my Australian pump filter and auto chlorinator direct from the China manufacturer (daveypool.com) for half the cost of buying it here (cost is just over 1k US). Davey is a long established Australian pump company. It is being delivered customs cleared and in fact I got a call today that it has arrived in Bangkok early. Its taken around 3 weeks and will be delivered after Songkran . My builder is bringing in a pool specialist and I will buy the materials. Quoted Labour cost 6k baht/sq mtr. Concrete and steel are cheap here so do not skimp and ensure you use quality materials especially grout, sealant and tiles. For me 500-600k seems realistic any photos please? LannaGuy
I'm in chiang mai too and will build a 10x4 or 10x3 - do most of you go for infinity (overflow) or skimmer?

For me, it has to be skimmer - far too many critters and leaves get into my pool.. If it was an overflow, I'd have to be cleaning in and around the pool every day. Yes - I have a skimmer and you do need to have a walkaround every day to pick up the bits and pieces. My daily routine - get up 6am walk round the pool, check the timer and that everything's working fine, get cup of coffee. Contemplate what else needs fixing during the day. Only takes 5 mins! One of the pleasures of retiring in Thailand

IMHO
and do you keep it on 24 hours? I can't speak for Santisuk, but the only reason you'd ever run your main pump for 24 Hours is if you just couldn't get people out of the pool for that sort of time
sappersrest
Depending on the size of pool and bather load you may well have to run pumps 24/7. All commercial pools ,gyms pools etc in Europe do, to comply with current codes of practices.

edd
My pool is 7m x 4 m salt water. I find it great, I clean it about every 7 to 10 days. The water is cristal clear I back flush about every week. I have had the pool for 6 years, the only problem I have had is with the chlorinator it just wore out, 5 to 6 years. I run the pump for 10 hrs a day. Good exercise I swimm about 1 mile a day. It cost about 500,000B. Best investment ever.

SantiSuk
Couldn't resist this 1 go to beach you will see the sea as in free swimming pool. 1,000km round trip for a daily exercise isn't practical for some of us! Rip tides, floating excrement - think I'll leave many Thai beaches to the tourists. [Errata: yes - I should have said "overflow", not skimmer in post #38 and no I don't keep pumps on all the time LannaGuy. 6 to 8 hours in two equal bursts of 3-4, depending on chlorine generation (season, water temp, bather load)].
