11 motorcyclists were taken to hospital. Phuket News file photo

PHUKET: The island’s motorists managed to get through a second day yesterday (April 10) without a death on the roads, this morning’s meeting on the Seven Days of Danger heard.

However, one car driver and 11 motorcyclists, including a Russian woman, ended up in hospital.

Anastasia Averyachkina, 30, collided with a car in an accident blamed on “poor visibility” at 4:40pm in Kamala. It was also noted that she was not wearing a helmet. She was taken to the Mission Hospital.

Of the other motorbike casualties, three crashed all by themselves (two were reported as being drunk), three hit vehicles while overtaking them, one hit another motorbike, two crashed into pick-up trucks, and one rammed into the back of a car.

The one car driver who was taken to hospital was Jantararat Noopeung, 34, who banged into a motorbike in Cherng Talay at 8:30am, injuring herself in the process. She was taken to Thalang Hospital.

Have all these injured motorists survived their stay in hospital?

It's not "counted" as a fatal motor vehicle accident if they are still alive at the scene, and die shortly after.

I hope they have survived, but what a play on road statistics.

ermm.gif ermm......except from Christmas and Songkran not a number is given from Phuket health department to the media so how can anyone know if its less or more fatalities.......

0 over 2 days can't be more.

0 over 2 days can't be more.

So, 11 people go to hospital, as a result of motor vehicle accidents. Did all 11 survive?

How will we ever know?

If you know, please share.

Doesn't matter for the statistics. Same way of measuring now and other times of the year.

Such a progressive way of thinking. biggrin.png
