My girlfriend will be giving birth in a few months. Once that is out the way I would like to apply for a visa based on the fact that we have children together. We are not married and do not plan to get married in the near future. I assume a Non O is the visa I will be applying for? Can anyone advise on what paper work is required to carry out the application?

You will only be able to get a single entry non-o visa based upon being the parent of a Thai. You can also get a 60 day extension at an immigration office.

If you want to get a multiple entry non-o or a one year extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai you will need to have your parenthood legitimized..

Ok I see, nice and easy as always. So once I have had my parenthood legitimized, what do I require for the visa?

To get a multiple entry non-o visa in Savannakhet you would need your child's birth certificate and the legitimization document plus copies. And you would need a copy of their house book registry. Your child and their mother would need to go with you when you apply to prove you are living together as a family.(de facto marriage).

If you want a one year extension of stay you would need 400k baht in the bank or proof 40k baht income. You would need the same documents needed for the non-o plus other documents and photos that will be required by your local immigration office.

There's always the multi entry tourist visa, you can get 3 of those.
