NACC to file lawsuit against 20 companies involved in G2G rice scheme

BANGKOK, 17 April 2015 (NNT) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is expected to file a lawsuit against private companies involved in the allegedly corrupt government-to-government (G2G) rice scheme.

NACC member Vicha Mahakhun has revealed that as many as 20 companies were found to have conspired to take advantage of the G2G rice scheme.

Nearly 100 companies were alleged to be involved in the former government’s rice program that sold the grains to foreign governments.

The NACC is currently gathering more evidence before filing the case at the Criminal Division for Political Office Holders of the Supreme Court. Mr. Vicha said the lawsuit will be filed soon to leave enough time for the court to consider before the first hearing is open.

The scope of corruption is simply staggering : so many companies complicit in a scam organised by the Thai government itself !!!.

An absolute disgrace which Thailand accepts in it's stride and carries on as normal. People who defend that last crowd on here have no shame.

Unfortunately members of the Thai military stationed around Lop Buri were also involved in corrupt and fraudulent rice sales so clearly corruption has not and is not only limited to politicians.

On the subject of corruption , it is noticeable that the NACC have said little about the money on the fake bomb detectors bought at such grew expense.

Good - and the owners / directors / senior executives of those companies should be prosecuted - regardless of who they, or their relatives are.

I wonder if nutawut is involved?

I don't deny what you say (the bomb detectors warranted serious investigation which never happened) but your argument is like saying a bank robbers lookout is as guilty as the one who shot the cashier to make the manager open the safe.

Open your eyes and try to see the bigger picture instead of looking for ways to discredit the junta who are just a bad choice from worse options.

I wonder if the ex singer now owner of an airliner was involved. Also wonder how he got the money to start such company.

People who claim no action is being taken against the miltiary (not completely true) are implying action should not be taken against the other side because of this.

My view is that action against all is best but even action against half will send a message.

everyone is aware that yl and the ptp were caught out with the rice scam scheme and that there were some very dodgy deals done by them. All this is doing is bringing those involved in the deals out yet still we see the red/ptp/yl/thaksin apologists trying to turn it around and failing badly, everyone should be glad that the corrupt businesses involved are going to be made to face justice. Seems guilt by association really has them all worried but they just cant admit the truth, face is simply too important to them.

"NACC member Vicha Mahakhun has revealed that as many as 20 companies were found to have conspired to take advantage of the G2G rice scheme"

Yet 2.59 million of the poorest rice farmers are still as poor today as they were 4 years ago.

I bet those 20 companies made billions though.

Thank god for accountability. Those companies would never be held accountable under the previous regime.

So you think prosecuting the reds and leaving the others, and there are plenty, will help heal the divide?

if so you are sorely deluded.violin.gif

Some here that revel in martial law or section 44 should look at the bigger picture,

the reds are not finished, never will be taksins or not.

Just cause you dont like it doesnt mean its not true. shock1.gif

I wonder, do some here still get told what time to go to bed?passifier.gifsaai.gif

So apart from the reds and the PTP who else was involved in fleecing the tax payer during the rice scam?

The PTP implemented the scam. The reds backed it. The DEMS suggested it would cost billions of baht (they were right), the IMF said it would fail (they were right), the World Bank said it could cripple the rice export standing of Thailand (they were right).

So who was in bed with the PTP?

Let me guess the warehouse owners were PDRC supporters!!!

PTP logic yet again.

The aim is not to "help heal the divide". The aim is to prosecute the criminals, many of whom were elected by those deluded into believing there was a divide.

Sorry koarop, but how did you read - .............."prosecuting the reds and leaving the others, and there are plenty, will help heal the divide?".......................

in EnglishJohn's comment ?

You seem to have a vivid imagination.

And you are also confusing "reveling" in Martial Law with being happy that people are not being gunned down in the streets anymore by paid terrorists.

Time for your bed now ! biggrin.png

I hope I live to see the day when they are all busted, regardless of their political party, being in the Military or Police, being connected or related to the right people - the whole darn lot of them.

I also hope that whatever party governs after the elections keeps up the hunt, but I think we all know what will happen when the Military steps back, it will be back to the old ways once again.

"What if everyone is not guilty"

which is why there are plenty of Thais who are quite happy for the general to stay as long as it takes to get solid changes firmly in place and get them well locked into place, and with mandatory punishment for anybody / any party which tries to revert to the old picture.

Talking about your beloved yingluck, she has mentioned several times that she's finished with politics and now wants to devote herself to community and charity work.

Any such activity noticed?

How can it possibly be "everyone is not guilty" in what was an obvious fraud?

Well, that is called due process. In which case the question still stands. Where would it leave Ying luck, if all these parties were found not guilty.

Little premature conviction there I believe.

It stands. Surely all this lot should be proven guilty before they go along and chase Yingluck. Carts and horses and all that. The actual wrongdoers should be found guilty first surely...

I haven't noticed. Maybe she can join suthep and set up a sanctuary for dodgy politicians safe away from the law.

Outta luck?

Not at all!

Ms. Yingluck will be in the rather unique position to explain why her self-financing RPPS lost 700++ billion Baht even though not a single company was found guilty of corruption thumbsup.gif
