You need to find someone who isn't corrupt and can't be corrupted and remain complete unbiased to the political factions. Prayut could have been that man but he remains unwilling to lay bare how he managed to become a general and how he managed to accumulate vast wealth. What is lacking is true transparency and until you (the people) have it then distrust will fester and grow. Once Thailand manages to find an honorable, decent and respectable human being they can't move on and as usual the education system will continue to fail the masses so that they remain ignorant and therefore cannot voice an educated opinion or see the real truth. Geographically Thailand could truly be a great nation and prosper but sadly there are forces at work that are only interested in their own self-worth and how they can retain ultimate power that ultimately continues to enrich them. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

A lot has been floated, but what programs have commenced that are of signicance to the Thai economy? A few beaches were cleaned up and the taxis were put on notice. And we found out that many Thai men find a western woman in a bikini irresistible and seductive, bringing on any unwanted advances due to the bikini? Critiquing and debate are necessary of a government, even if it comes from a media outlet. An opposition would also help. So what is the General asking for? To be left to his own; not many legitimate countries have arrangement’s like this in place. What about the Thai economy? What about infrastructure programs? What about the annual drought and floods? Human trafficking? Elections? A viable opposition? Education system? Tinkering with the health system? Social programs? Bangkok's flood mitigation program? The inequalities in the legal system? Nepotism? Military spending increases? The two Burmese men? The Natural Fruit Company? Legal action over political killings in 2010? The fishing industry? So what are people supposed to do, put blinkers on? Praying for a result won't get you far. Nor will another press release on what your thoughts are. The people in Isaan and the north will still vote contrary to his and other elitist wishes. Investors will not jump back right away. I now accept that every institution in Thailand which has any kind of influence has been bought or lives with the prospect of serious retaliation if they go against the grain (financial or grenades on gateposts). These people are planning for what comes after the Junta : they know full well that they will not stay in power for much longer - and anyone who supported them will be 'repaid' when the wheels of corruption start turning again. It would follow then that Prayut is a critic of his own NCPO group. He can tolerate his own criminal actions because he has justified them and gives the coup command amnesty for any and all its actions. Prayuth has denied any army abuses during the violence in which at least 98 people died and more than 2,000 were injured, despite numerous accounts by witnesses and other evidence. even though evidence was apparent.... “Abuses by soldiers took place in full view of the Thai public and the world’s media, yet the Thai army chief is now trying to intimidate investigators and critics into silence,” Then, of course, rejecting the legal process, let's forget May 22nd and just go with, ... Prayuth is also using Thailand’s archaic criminal defamation law to deter public criticism, Not to mention, ... Not one soldier or official has been held accountable for the 2010 violence as criminal investigations have,progressed very slowly.
