A young man decides to go to his first NFL Super Bowl game. He pays a scalper $1200 for a ticket, and he's in. But, his seat is high up in the nosebleed section, and the players look like ants from his seat. Disappointed, he scans the crowd with his binoculars, hoping to spot someone famous. He notices what appears to be an empty seat on the fifty-yard line, close to the field. "What the heck," he thinks, "I'll check it out."

He makes his way through the crowd, all the way around the stadium, and finds the empty seat. There's an old man sitting in the seat next to it. "Excuse me," the young man asks, "is this seat taken?"

"No, it isn't," the old man replies. The young man happily sits down. From this seat, he can see the expressions on the faces of the players. "This is amazing," he exults, "I can't believe this seat wasn't taken!"

The old man says, "Well, you see, that was to have been my wife's seat. We starting coming to the Super Bowl years ago, and always sat together. But, she passed away recently. This is the first time in 35 years that we ..." His voice trailed off, leaving the sentence unfinished. A tear came to the old man's eye, and gently, he brushed it away.

"That's so sad," the young man said. "But surely, you could have given the ticket to someone, so you wouldn't have to come to the game alone. A close friend, a relative, perhaps?"

The old man sighed. "No," he said, "they're all at the funeral."
