March 27, 200422 yr On Monday evening, April 5, we will have a pesach seder at our home in Nong Hoi (moo baan Siri Wattana). Unlike the Chabad seder, this one will be conducted largely in English, and have a lot of explanation in English for any Thai spouses, or significant others. Kids are naturally also very welcome. Please call us as soon as possible, so we will know how many guests we can expect. Larry 09-8870758

March 30, 200422 yr Author What is a pesach seder? Good question... Passover (Pesach in Hebrew) is the Jewish holiday commemorating the exodus of the Jews from slavery in Egypt about 3320 years ago. On the first night of this seven day holiday, we sit down to a special meal called the seder. We encourage the kids (and anyone else) to ask lots of questions, read the hagada (the story of the exodus) sing special songs, have a festive meal, and generally have a good time together. There are many symbols at the meal, such as matza (unleaved flat bread), since the exodus took place quickly, without any time for bread to rise. The word "seder" itself means "order" since there is a specific order for everything in the seder.
March 30, 200422 yr Author Actually, I got two big boxes of matzahs....so no problem. Kosher grape juice too. The meal, of course, will be Thai, but as kosher as we can make it.
