Possible to get a third tourist visa within a year?

Featured Replies

I got a tourist visa in Penang in October 2014 and one again 90 days ago in VIentienne. I wasted my opportunity to use my second of my double-entry (it expired 2 days ago). Does anyone know if I can get another tourist visa in Laos?

Also, is it possible to just cross the border in Pedang Besar in Malaysia, come right back to Thailand, and get 30 days? My guess is no.

Moderators will confirm this, but as far as I understand it's up to 3 from each embassy/consulate.

You can get another 2 entry tourist visa in Laos or a single entry in Penang. There is no limit on the tourist visas you can get other than the number you can get back to back at the same location (Vientiane 3 or 4).

Since you are not on one now you could get a visa exempt entry at Pedang Besar. You will only get a 15 day visa exempt entry at a border crossing unless you are from a G7 country which would allow 30 days. The entry can then be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

Thanks a lot. In that case, I will just drive to the border today and then come back.

Say you have done 4 back to back in Vientiane, would they give you a tourist visa in Savanakhet? Or is it considered as the same consulate/embassy?

They probably would want to see financial proof to get another visa to prove you are not working here.

I went to Pedang Besar and came right back. Got 30 days (I'm American). Some questions, but no problems.
