Clinton Foundation admits missteps in donor disclosure
By HOPE YEN

WASHINGTON (AP) — The acting chief executive of the Clinton Foundation is acknowledging the global philanthropy made mistakes in how it disclosed its donors amid growing scrutiny as Hillary Rodham Clinton opens her presidential campaign.

In a blog posting Sunday, Maura Pally defended the foundation's work and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, describing its policies on donor disclosure and contributions from foreign governments as "stronger than ever."

Still, Pally said the foundation expected to refile some of its tax forms, following a voluntary external review, because it had "mistakenly combined" government grants with other donations. She said the foundation would "remedy" any errors but stressed the total revenue was reported accurately and that grants were properly broken out on audited statements on its website.

"Yes, we made mistakes, as many organizations of our size do, but we are acting quickly to remedy them, and have taken steps to ensure they don't happen in the future," she said.

Pally also described the foundation's work with the Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership, which she said received funding from a separate organization in Canada. She said that partnership does not disclose its donors because under Canadian law they are not disclosed without prior permission from each donor.

"This is hardly an effort on our part to avoid transparency," Pally said.

That partnership has come under scrutiny because it is named after Frank Giustra, a Canadian mining billionaire who has donated more than $31 million to the Clinton Foundation since the mid-2000s.

Since announcing her run for president, Clinton has sought to dismiss questions about financial support of her family charity and allegations of undue influence as "distractions and attacks" by Republicans seeking to discredit her. The philanthropy was started in 2001 by former President Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea will be starting a nine-day trip to Africa on Wednesday to highlight the group's work on issues such as economic growth and empowerment, climate change and empowering women and girls.

Aww shucks it was just a little honest mistake. We all know the Clintons are pure as driven snow.

I'm not going to have some reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president: Hillary Clinton

Please find something real this time to derail Hillary before she is nominated instead of wasting the taxpayers money on more phony Benghazi crap. That way maybe a real human being, not a neocon/neoliberal Wall Street stooge might be nominated, as in Senator Sanders or Senator Warren.

...the total revenue was reported accurately and (that) grants were properly broken out on audited statements on its website.

Jeez they did a good job of hiding that then. Again, pointless wailing and gnashing of teeth over nothing. They just can't help themselves.

When spending $30 million per year on payroll, one would think they could find at least one person that knows how to fill out a government form properly.

But then you must remember it took Hillary four years to find those pesky Rose Law Firm billing records...and they were in her bedroom in the White House. cheesy.gif

Charity watchdog: Clinton Foundation a ‘slush fund’
By Isabel Vincent
April 26, 2015 | 7:47am
The Clinton Foundation’s finances are so messy that the nation’s most influential charity watchdog put it on its “watch list” of problematic nonprofits last month.
The Clinton family’s mega-charity took in more than $140 million in grants and pledges in 2013 but spent just $9 million on direct aid.
The group spent the bulk of its windfall on administration, travel, and salaries and bonuses, with the fattest payouts going to family friends.
On its 2013 tax forms, the most recent available, the foundation claimed it spent $30 million on payroll and employee benefits; $8.7 million in rent and office expenses; $9.2 million on “conferences, conventions and meetings”; $8 million on fund-raising; and nearly $8.5 million on travel. None of the Clintons are on the payroll, but they do enjoy first-class flights paid for by the Foundation.

I'm surprised they spent that much on "direct aid", since that is not what they are there for.

We convene businesses, governments, NGOs, and individuals to improve global health and wellness, increase opportunity for women and girls, reduce childhood obesity, create economic opportunity and growth, and help communities address the effects of climate change.

But I wouldn't expect anything better from a Murdoch publication.

Thank god they can't tap phones any more.

Getting tired of Fox news and all their drivel. Maybe she was, possibly she was, a good chance she is they are nothing but a bunch of sucker punching goons an octopus arm/mouthpiece of the GOP. Its the same as when Bill ran for president they were turning over every rock they could to find some kind of scandal. This could backfire on them.

OMG ...another ... see no evil, hear no evil ... the evil is Fox... whine whine whine... If you actually go read the many post on this Thread... You will see many publications that are 180 degrees from Fox that are levying accusations and concern for the actions of Hillary C. Only a very few sources cited on this thread are FoxNews or even Conservative media outlets... many more are liberal publications ... I guess these sources like the NY Times are being bullied and pushed by FoxNews into questioning Hillary's ethics.... You guys are outright funny using FoxNews - your favorite Cop Out for being too fearful to actually go read the extreme concern expressed by liberal media about Hillary's honesty. A Liberal Fund raiser set to collect donations for Hillary - backed out because he had concerns about her not answering questions and hiding sources of the truth... reported above -- but not by FoxNews.... Get some courage and discuss the real details of the reports as done by media sources the total opposite in political orientation as compared to FoxNews... Can I just send you some real CRUTCHES to hold up your political stance -- rather that you leaning on the FoxNews excuse?

The fact that your cut and kind only bash FoxNews--- even when they are not a significant part of this Topic Thread discussion as far as news sources go - shows just how valueless your positions are.

AMMEND: Go read this thread .... http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/819742-clinton-gives-glimpse-of-how-she-plans-to-run-as-a-woman/

The lemmings don't like it when you criticize the most trusted name in news.

What we're waiting for is to see the new deluxe model of the HRC Swiftboat. The Benghazi crap is not going to fly. Oh they'll continue to beat the Benghazi dead horse but there's nothing there. The Repugs are really grasping for anything at this point. HRC is going to get ALL the money. She has no opposition

Does the above post have to be in bold? It makes it look even more desperate...

Missteps? HaHaHa. Hilarious. Does anyone remember when Lady Hillary "Misremembered" when she told her barefaced lie about landing under fire in Bosnia? Some things you might "Misremember", i doubt if landing under sniper fire would be one of them!! The woman is a pathological liar, as is her husband, she just can't help herself. I am not American but i have to say if the electorate there vote for this woman they deserve all the approbation that will be coming their way from the rest of the world a few months into her "reign"! Most of us are already resigned to the end of this experiment with non dynastic politics, time now for the American electorate to go back to voting for Clinton or Bush! Fast forward to to 2025, it will be a choice between Chelsea Clinton and Jenna Bush! No wonder the rest of us are having a good laugh! At least when an attempt was made to parachute Tony Blair's son into a safe Labour seat in Liverpool UK there was uproar and the plan was swiftly dropped. Democracy my Ar--e.

The only two articles so far on this thread are from the Associated Press and the NY Times.

Oh Chuck. Need to get tested for Alzheimers mate, you were the one that wrote Post #4.

The pedantic patrol is alive and functioning. You are correct. My post #4 was published by the NY Post, NOT the NY Times.

The fact remains, neither the Times nor the Post are also known as FOX NEWS.

Ole "Slick Willie", is at it still, with Hillary at his side or vice verses they will deflect any criticism and use it to their advantage. Did you ever hear the story of the mansion they bought in New York State so Hillary could run for the senate in New York. 13 million USD ,10K monthly house payments, so ole Bill builds a small house on the property to house the secret service detachment and charges the government 10K a month rent, HOUSE PAYMENTS TAKEN CARE OF! He didn't get that name from being dumb or honest either.

Where do you get your information?

The Clintons paid $1.7 million for an 11-room Dutch Colonial style house; modest - or at best typical, of so many others in the posh little town of Chappaqua and its environs about 30 miles north of New York City.

I grew up in Westchester County, and still go back occasionally to visit friends and relatives. I'm familiar with the area... it wasn't a "mansion" by any stretch of the imagination, and it certainly didn't cost "13 million USD".

Don't post misinformation.

Anybody who wants to do a hatchet-job on the Clintons has a wealth of real scandals, sleaze, and outright criminality to choose from... an embarrassment of riches. There's no need to fake it.

Nevertheless, Hillary will probably be elected the next president of the United States.

As H.L.Mencken once said: "No one ever lost a bet underestimating the intelligence of the American people."
