Thailand is looking to penetrate new markets in South Asia

The Trade Negotiations Department is promoting Thai exports to South Asian countries, particularly India.

Department deputy chief Chana Khanarattanadilok (ชนะ คณารัตนดิลก) said interesting markets in that region include India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bhutan.

Mr. Chana said special attention will be given to India, which has so far this year imported cars and components, plastic pellets and chemical products and some other goods worth more than two billion baht from Thailand. Exports to India next year were expected to increase to four billion baht, he said.

Mr. Chana said India also is interested to buy electrical appliances and fruits such as mangosteen, longan, durian and mango from Thailand.

Isn't it time that they also ease the restrictions on importing into thailand rather then only promoting their exports.
